I enjoyed watching your tutorial. I have been looking for something someone did different than I do because of the top or bottom rim issues. I have come to think it may have something to do with the size of the tumbler press tube or just the quality of the press though I am uncertain. I saw one woman’s press which the tube was much ‘longer’ than mine leaving more space at both ends of her tumbler. Just guessing though. I have also noticed that some cut their designs a tad bit shorter from the bottom curve so I’ll be trying that too. Thank you again for a great tutorial. I haven’t rolled my bottom edge on a towel as you did so I’ll try that too. 👍

I’m so glad you enjoyed! I’m sure press length has something to do with good edges. Or more specifically, shorter press lengths! Also, I’m sure quality of press has a lot to do with it. I’ve seen more than a few people have issues with the cheaper presses. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for this great video and sharing your knowledge! QUESTION: I am wondering if you have tried cutting slits on the top side of the tape before you fold it over in an effort to avoid/minimize the kinks. Just wondering if you’ve tried and it does not make a difference or if you’ve not tried. Inquiring minds want to know. Again, thanks for your videos. I like that they are very detailed.
Thanks for the detailed demos and comparisons. Do you have links to recommended vendors for tumblers and water bottles. HPN is a little pricey.
Fantastic tutorial, very well explained. Can I sublimated in toaster over without convection? If so, what temperature and for how long. Thank you for your help.
@industrialfringe953

Hey! While I haven’t tried it, you should be fine with subbing in a toaster oven, you’ll just need to plan on rotating it during the cook. (Convection circulates the heat for you!) I’d try getting one from a thrift store! And remember, never use an oven that you use to cook food! The sublimation gases aren’t good for you!

Besides taping are you using shrink wrap or a silicone locking wrap? Or tumbler press?

Hi! Unless I’m trying to show how to to something in an oven as well as a press, if it fits in my press, that’s my go-to! Check out my video on how I use my press for more details on time and temp. And because I use a press, I don’t need the silicone wrap or shrink wrap. But when I do bake in an oven, I use shrink wrap after taping. Thanks for watching!

Hey< I think we talked about this in the group, but I just realized your difference of .02 is only about 1/50 of an inch. You may actually need a little more overlap! I try to have about 1/8” of overlap, but sometimes have just a bit more.

Hey, Joyce! I’m not sure the tape residue can be removed. I would probably try a little Goo Gone or something like that to try and buff it out. I notice that your tumbler is painted white. It paint melting a concern when sumlimating? Would that mean I could sublimate yetis and hydroflasks? Also is adhesion/duability a concern when sublimating over a painted surface?
@industrialfringe953
Жыл бұрын
The tumblers I use (and what others use as well) are white with a coating over them to take the sublimation ink. They’re white so they have a “blank” surface to work with. You can only sub items that have a special coating. Because the ink is infused Inyo the coating, there is no durability concern. Thanks for watching!

You mentioned in this video that you leave a 1/16” to 1/8” white seam on your print. You didn’t say why. I’ve been taught to leave no seam and just make sure the two seams are tight against each other. I have pretty good luck with that but not 100% of the time. Do you always leave a seam? Is it better to do it that? way.
@industrialfringe953
Жыл бұрын
I overlap because I know I could never consistently get the size exactly right, and I’d rather have a 1/16” overlap with potentially a slightly darker mark than to have even the smallest white line. And usually I get no darker color at the seam. I’ve also noticed that tumblers are sometimes ever so slightly different in size. By having that little bit of overlap, I don’t have to worry about that! Thanks for watching!
