In this video you will see how to make ELMO out of fondant! It is super simple to make and this fondant decoration looks great on the sides of your cake or use it as a flat topper. For a pop up topper, just add sticks behind the fondant decoration a day after drying and then add another piece of fondant behind to hold together the stick to your decoration.
Print out a photo of Elmo as your guide to make this decoration. Place it on top of your red fondant and trace over the edges and the mouth. Then place the red piece you just cut out over black fondant and trace leaving about 1cm of space between the two colours.(This will give the outline). Once that's done, cut out some circles for the eyes and nose. Again, use the photo as your guide to keep it all the same size. Stick on all the elements with water and steam in the end to get rid of any cornstarch!

Make a black base that’s thicker and the same size/shape as the topper. Add a stick in side then add your topper on top of that. If you check out my mermaid cake video you can see me make a name topper and you can do the same idea! Hope that helps :)

Thanks so much! :) If I’ll use it to go flat on the top of a cake I’ll just allow it to dry on a tray. If it will go on the sides of the cake and you’ll need it curved, I’ll either keep it in a ziplock bag(make sure all the air is out). Or I’ll lay it on the sides of a styrofoam cake dummy to give it that curved shape!

If you’ll keep it in a ziplock bag don’t steam it! Steam the decoration when it’s on the cake

Wauw this is amazing🥰🥰🥰🥰. I have a order to make the blue one cookie monster on donuts😭😭. This is going to be my first time. I was wondering how to make the fondant shine again, and I one of your comments talking about steaming. Is there another option also? I don’t have a steamer yet👀

Absolutely! Before I got the steamer I use to use just water with a brush. This works just as great! The only difference is that you may see the brush strokes. Because of that, try to go in one direction.
