You need a cardboard box, white paper, foil, scissors, tape, and a pin/earring. Cut a piece of paper so that it fits into the bottom of the box. Tape it so that it doesn't move. Cut two holes/squares into the top opposite side of the box. Tape up the remaining flap part left between them. On one of the holes, tape a piece of foil over it. Then poke a small hole in the foil using a pin or earring. The other hole is what ur gonna look through. To see the eclipse, ur gonna face AWAY from the sun so that it's behind you. Then just look through the hole and ur gonna be able to see the projection inside the box.

I'm just gonna watch the video of it that will be posted, when I was a kid we had one in 1973 or 74 & I saw on tv you could unroll a roll of unused 35 mm film & look though it to protect your eyes & that is what I did.

We made these in school in the 90s.

Or use a cup with a hole in it and a piece of paper on the ground

And you can do the same thing with a paper plate and a piece of paper

Gonna use my phone and zoom in lol,,works better.

I use regular sunglasses my motorcycle helmet sunglass on top of my daytime amber visor and you can sneak peaks easily.

Can you do this if you have Macular Degeneration? One thing that i haven't heard ANYONE talk about, is that you MUST NOT use eclipse glasses if you have any kind of eye disease. I bought some eclipse glasses years ago to watch a partial eclipse, but the sky was full of clouds so i didn't see anything. 2-3 years ago, we had another partial eclipse, and I dug out those eclipse glasses again. There was some tiny writing on them, which i thought I'd better read, and that's what it said! I was gutted, because I am in my 50s, but I have Early Onset Macular Degeneration in one eye, which meant I couldn't use them! I read online if there was another way of viewing it. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was pointing a pair of binoculars at it, turned upside down, with one of the lenses covered in cardboard. It then would project an image onto a piece of cardboard that I was holding.....I tried it, thinking I wouldn't see anything, as it was a bit cloudy, but IT WORKED! The image was tiny, but it was definitely there! I could see an image of the sun, with a tiny crescent blocking it out on one side!! That was good enough for me!! 😊😊😊 I was going to try the same kind of method using a pinhole in a piece of cardboard, instead of the binoculars, with this recent eclipse, but unfortunately I live in Scotland, and you've guessed it, the sky was nothing but thick cloud! Bloomin' annoying, because the following night, there was a sunset, so it would likely have been visible, although only a tiny percentage would have been showing. Before reading that tiny small print on the glasses, and double checking with my Optician, I would have had no idea that I couldn't use the eclipse glasses!
