    Really enjoy watching your videos , so uncomplicated and easy to follow. Also, just to let you know, I appreciate you showing how to make small, individual batches - so many recipes are for big batches which would just go to waste in my house, so these are ideal for me. Hi Marie. Thanks for your awesome videos! May you kindly advise on how I can keep my whipped body butters fluffy/marshmallow-like? Also, would you advise on adding emulsifying wax to pure body butters, will it make a difference in the consistency? Thanks xx

  • @HumblebeeAndMe

    @HumblebeeAndMe

    Keeping things whippy is usually more a function of the specific oil/butter blend than anything else. This recipe is a good place to start: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nqdrz8lycrC_aNI.html. Why do you want to add emulsifying wax to a body butter? Of course it will impact the consistency-adding anything will-but what are you trying to achieve?

    Would you be so kind to let me know if there is a way to cut the greasiness of this butter? And if you have this recipe is spoon measurements, thank you. Jane

  • @HumblebeeAndMe

    @HumblebeeAndMe

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hey! The first key to reducing greasiness is to use less-I often find people use big scoops of body butter when a small smidge would do, and are then surprised when it's greasy. If you're using way too much, any body butter will be greasy! If you want something that isn't greasy, you're probably looking for a lotion, not a body butter, which is pure fat and wax. As for spoon measurements, those are grossly inaccurate and I never use them for things like this-If you want good results, you need a scale :) Happy making!

  • @HumblebeeAndMe

    I prefer the double boiler as it is really hard to over-heat/burn ingredients, which a microwave can do. I also like how the water bath heats up the glass evenly, giving me more time to work with the end product before it solidifies 😊

    Absolutely Right Marie. I will definitely become a patron. Would you then help me fix the formulation so that when I sell it or courier it in different parts of India, it doesn't melt and doesn't feel like oil but cream? And also the product is not filled with a lot of preservatives or chemicals. I like my products free of sulfates, parabens and paraffins.

  • @HumblebeeAndMe

    @HumblebeeAndMe

    You'll need to increase the melting point of the product by including ingredients with higher melting points. More wax may work, but wax is sticky and tacky, and too much does not make for a nice product-but the feel may be different at a higher ambient temperature. This really isn't something I can offer too much advice on, it's a bit like asking how I'd make something on the moon!

    Try as I might I can't find an answer to this: Will using coconut oil (that is solid at room temp.) vs. fractionated coconut oil result in different a texture/consistency? I'm not sure if they can be used interchangeably? Ever tried the same exact same recipe using one over the other? Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks so much, I just love your style and all the effort you put into this channel. Les

  • @HumblebeeAndMe

    @HumblebeeAndMe

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yes, it will, because one is typically solid at room temperature while one is always liquid at room temperature. I never use them interchangeably-I'd be more likely to use babassu oil as a swap for coconut oil, and squalane as a swap for FCO. You can learn more about all these ingredients in my Encyclopedia at www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/ :)

    If all you know about the product is that it is "scented wax", I'd say no. You need to know exactly what it is (beeswax? soy wax? candelilla wax?) to know how it will perform. Additionally, the fragrance may not be skin safe if the product you have is a wax melt for scenting rooms or something similar.
