You might wanna put rubber soles on the bottom of the stilts so it doesn't mess up floors and so you have more traction on the laminate or tiled floors of convention centres

Another tip if you plan on making these yourself? Do what I did and screw some plywood to the bottom of the stilt so that if you look at it from the front, the stilt looks like an upside down T. This helps distribute weight better, and balances you out.

Also 2 -24inch bungee cords
I wonder if it would be more fun to walk in if you put a big spring under instead of the block of wood
omg thank you,i really need some diditigrade stilts but there so expensive
I can't tell you how I glad to find this tutorial! something like this legs I'm searching for so many time. My greatest gratitude!

Thank you so much! I'm going to try to make a version that looks like landing gear for a warplane mimic costume. Some reasonably priced wheelbarrow tires would work nicely in place of actual plane tires because of scale. The fact that these already have a flat base is PERFECT for achieving that 4-wheel landing gear shape.
Thank you! This video was so helpful I'm making digitigrade stilts for a werewolf costume and this is the reference,I am slightly tweaking some parts of the design
thank you so much as I'm planning my fursuit for my dragon rather a scaly suit but same difference and this is such a perfect method for obtaining the digitigrade stilts when your on a budget thank you thank you thank you
I’ve always wondered if you added a tail , if you would instinctively begin to use it to help you balance
"this could be for a dragon costume, a werewolf, a minotuar" me: no thanks I'm using it to be balsac the jaws of death from gwar 😂😂

same!!! 😂 how long did it take you to pull the costume together at the end? I’m starting now
This is going to be so useful for a cosplay for one of my OCs! Thankoo💜💜
Thank you so much for making this video! This will really help on my Minotaur costume!
It’s like a mix between clogs and high heels. Brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that?
Thanks this was helpful. I am planning to make this robotic wolf thing costume and the digi stilts are so expensive!! so this was very good and helpful
Thank you so much! I've been looking for a good tutorial for way too long!
Thanks this helps out so much since for my fursona is 9ft tall and i'm 5'6 so yeah I will have to a gust the measurements for the plank base but this was a huge help.
I’m currently working on translating all the materials so I can attempt making myself a pair!
Old video, but how would you make the fur cover for it?
yes.. very helpful, thanks SO MUCH taking my cosplay to the next level
Thank you so much for this! I'm going to be attempting to make a Deathclaw cosplay for next next November, and I wasn't sure how I would do the legs
I'm surprised no one bothered to mention that those supposed 1x4 boards are clearly 1x6 boards.
I've made a pair of these, but they feel off. The shelving connector keeps feeling likes its pushing into my leg, and my Dad says it looks like you used a 1 by 6 in the video instead of a 1 by 4, which could be why it feels like it's doing so. I also had the screw that acts as the anchor for the bungie cord snap off. I would appreciate some further elaboration on how to securely keep the bungie on as well I really want to make one of these for a ren fair character
great tutorial. going to make these. thank you!
That's so cool!
this tutorial is great!! how heavy would you say they are? (werewolf cosplay is exactly what I'm going for, but I'm also on the shorter/lighter side)
How heavy are they to walk in? I'm really hoping to make a pair but they look heavy
Stupid question. Would you need to get moser of some of the material for the other stilt or is this for both stilts?
I remember at a Halloween party about twenty years ago someone had a demon costume with similar stilts, not sure if his were home made or bought. He had his niece with him and she was leading him round by a chain round his neck. He said he was a theatre prop designer.
could the bordes be smaller if you're a smaller person. or would they brake
How much extra height can you add with these? I want to be closer to ‘hulking’ than my 5’5 frame will allow lol
Me> makes a Halo Elite cosplay (if I had the time and space for that) but then again, I'd try to make something more complicated, because that's what I do.
Oof. You should make a full body werewolf cosplay. I'd love to see it!
So, I know this is an older video....but I'm curious to know how tall you were with these stilts on? I'm trying to make some but I may need to go shorter.
@oncloudnine3767

Xanthus Stephanos I was thinking the same thing, just taller. I may need them taller for myself personally, since the character I'm thinking of using these for is extremely tall.
Someone help me Make this For My Faun Costume for Halloween! But One Question.... How Do You Attach Fur and stuff to them So that People Can't see your legs Or the Contraption?
Can i use it for bird legs and make it more large?
Do you sell some on Etsy?
Fantastic!!!
I need to make digi stilts that are hover cuz I’m doing a cosplay this helped alot
How heavy is this? I'm only 120 and I want to make sure I won't tire myself out super quick
I know this is an old video but for anyone wanting to make this, those are 1x6s not 1x4s!
Thanks now we can all save money and make something handmade and nice!
Anybody know the load weight for these things? I'm 275 pounds and most drywall stilts or the like aren't rated for more than 230..that's usually per leg so it's not too bad if you stand still cause that's about 460 total for them..but when you move that's another story. I'd like to try some stilts but I pretty much ave to make them myself or spend high bucks to get some that'll hold my fat butt without failing on the first step.
THANK YOU!!!!
What if I need them for all fours and a little longer?
Can you replace the shoes in it?
this is a great tutorial. my problem is im trying to make a nightstalker dota 2 cosplay so proportions are everything so i dont know how to conseal the stilts in the costume

You can get a really similar look with foam layering instead. A lot of digitigrade fursuits use this method and it can work to great effect
Any metric measurements?
Thanks! REALLY!! TY!!
where did you buy those pipes
Can i cut the wood with a hack saw insted
Really hope this works for a Toba the Tura cosplay!! (Razia's Shadow)
quite a few years ago i made theses with my husband for a satyr costume. I could only stand in them for about 20-30 mins at a time. My toes were taking all the weight of my body. The angle was a bit lower than recommended so idk where we went wrong. Any ideas if i ever remake them?
@henryhog4783

Catherine Reyna try making a flatter area for ur toes
@Ayilachan
2 жыл бұрын
Where he shows adding the block 'so your toes don't take all the weight', that's supposed to line up approximately with the ball of your foot so your toes go over the top of the little block. It'll bend the sole of the shoes a little, but it'll give more of a high heel effect rather than a ballet shoe effect
I know they do that without those my own feat it looks pretty cool
Can you jump around while wearing these?
I will use this to create my elite halo costume
Serious question Can you run in these
just making a Bird Pleague spirit (its a skinny wingless pure black dragons with no scales and a white bird mask for a head, a creature i made myself :D) and looking for good cosplay digitigrade stilts for it dont mind me Edit: do you have a less blocky version that you could possably run in? if so please make a tutorial qwq )
Does anyone know how much these cost to make?
Nice I love high heels
Using this for Raven Beak from Metroid Dread
About how heavy are these?
Can I use it for owls
Is sam from under the dome?
Are those heavy?
i'm going to use these to make a mech suit
might want to remove some of the wood off the heel, it makes it much easier to move without it
you got out of the Dome? :P hehe, you reminded of an actor there :)
How slim can you safely make the profile of the feet? This look would work for something with large paws or feet, but what if your cosplay has smaller feet and you don't want something big and square like that? Thanks for reading

@@capriottimultimediaThis was basic tutorial. You can work it from here on, the way YOU want it. Wood can be replaced with either springs or shocks (hood or trunk from a car.) The soles could be rubberized for comfort and traction. The foot part can be reshaped/rounded. Another words, his design can be perfected further; to one’s needs. You’re just gonna have to get a bit creative 😁

Ok. so the 45 degrees was a bit hard to walk on and wore his legs out. why not shallow up the grade a bit and make the somewhat easier to stand on? Just a question.
@2hotturkey

I'm assuming this was his first draft. Not to mention, I feel if you lowered the angle too much, you would lose much of the effect. I would try beveling the rear edges and thinning the entire structure out, width-wise, to make it walk easier and look better.
@kylescheele
9 жыл бұрын
Kyle here (the guy in the video). My legs were actually not too tired at all, especially with the bungee cord on there. And 2hotturkey is right. If you lower the angle too much, you lose the effect. Plus you put more stress on the wood that way.
I think I may have figured out how to do this the cheapest way possible and still work long term
Would it also work for just wolf fursuits?

I built the cart at home Depot.com, and with the most expensive version of some of the materials (their search function isn't great) it was about $80 (including $20 surgical tubing instead of bungee cords) so in store where you can actually buy the correct stuff? I bet you could get it under $30
i like digi man
use this for making a spirit walker costume....
Furries: digigrade That man: 2:32 DIGIDRGRADE
I don't like how there is a board going straight down from your heal to the ground. It takes away the illusion this type of stilt is supposed to be all about.

***** how so? Explain? I thought it be interesting to see a creature suit made like that, it won't be a true dragon but rather a type of shark adapted to land, think of it like the pokemon Garchomp but more based on the great white or tiger shark than a hammer head. The whole thing is laid out too, a creature that is like a sauropod, has long fins that double as "wings" of sort and a semi long neck and large back fin.
@Clonetos
9 жыл бұрын
***** well in a sort of pseudo science since it doesn't exist allow me to give you a sort of biological stand point. You see if in theory if one were to exist it would have had to evolve to walk on land for two reasons, food and versitility. In the wild sharks are constantly moving and thus NEVER rest because if they do they drown, simple as that. This species of shark came onto land to escape that in order to be a more adept predator. Then you got the fact that the ocean while covering 75% of the surface of the earth is a bit barren at times, on land the dragon shark would have a much more easier time getting prey than it would in the ocean, not to say it doesn't got into the water from time to time but it mostly hunts on land. then you got the question of "Why is it called a dragon then" Well mostly appearance to be honest, like I said theropod like structure (accidentally typed sauropod) but not only that but it's fins look like wings, now it can pseudo glide, but not far it mostly flaps them in order to accelerate it's momentum when chasing down prey. But then you got the biggest thing about it...it doesn't exist, it's just a costume idea silly

***** hey you're the one getting you panties in a bunch over a costume idea that hasn't even been blue printed yet...
