I'm also a big lover of choreographing so I want to pursue my dream of becoming a professional choreographer in the future as well. As a fifteen year old, I always thought that I was too late to start dancing. It took me fifteen years to decide what I wanted to do and be, and I feel like dance is one of those few things. I want to be a dancer for myself, to express myself, and to make myself more confident in the entertainment matter. I want to breathe and let go, and I want to grow more as a person. However, I’m at a loss cause, having gotten stuck on my journey. I don’t know what to do, I always feel so lazy, and I don’t know where to start and how much I can do to start making actual progress. This video, however, helps me a LOT. And I thank you.

Why I wanna start dancing is truly because it allows to me to express how I’m truly feeling, gives me that euphoric feeling and it’s therapeutic. Going through a break up atm and my first thought was to get up and go to the dance studio and release these emotions through movement.

Three years later your video literally TOUCHED ME! I’m inching on 23 years and I’ve felt like I haven’t had a passion for anything except dancing and growing up, I was told that it wouldn’t make me money, that I’d be miserable because I was raised by survivalists who only say success if you were a doctor, nurse, a lawyer. Since leaving high school, I’ve been searching anxiously to find something for myself, something that’ll make me happy just as much as dance does. The tips in your video are so simple but so profound! I literally make the decision to go for this full on. I’m moving to Atlanta, I’m going to get more technical training, I’m going to join the dance industry and I’m going to make a career out of it!

This is really helpful! Thank you Antoine for taking the time to do this. My name is Abby. I'm 27 years old and dance is something I always wanted to do but I never acted on it. I remember being a kid and seeing STEP UP with Channing Tatum for the first time and my jaw dropping. That movie is still my favorite movie!!! It spoke to me in ways words can't explain and left a fire burning inside me.... I'm alwaysssssssss watching choregraphy on KZread!!!! I'm freaking obsessed. I even have tons of clips saved on my phone that i watch on the train with a big ass smile on my face. I remember seeing your content about 2 years ago and falling in love with it and YOU (lol) Self-awareness is the key to life (s/o Gary Vee) and I know this something I want to put the time and effort into!!! I've reached the point where I'm ready to put in the work. I understand it will be a learning process and I'm ok with that. Idc about recording myself and putting it on instagram for attention and likes. Fuck all that, I'm doing this for myself...... ME and I understand its a MARATHON, NOT a sprint. I'm an extrovert, people person, caring, and love learning. I'm teachable and always soaking up knowledge and trying to be a better ME. After working in the music industry for a few years, I've outgrown it, that's not my passion anymore. Was depressed for the last 3 months but I'm finally in a better space mentally and ALOT happier with the woman I'm becoming!!! For the last year and a half Ive lost a ton of weight and even transitoned to a plant based diet. I've got up at 5am everyday and ran 3-4 miles 3 times a week. I went from a size L to a small and its pretty dope to see myself in my new body!! Im also proud of myself for putting in the work to be a stronger, smarter me! I still work out every day and self care is #1. Results are addiciting!!! Ive even cut off toxic friends, personal and business relationships and currently on a social media detox!!! I really connected to the part where you spoke about loving yourself and how important that is!!! That's exactly what I'm going through right now!!! I love ME more than anything. Recently got a dance mentor and I'm excited to get started with her AND put in my own work as well because like you just said this is MY life, career, and I'm the only one responsible for it. Antoine, thank you for this valuable content. Keep it coming. I love you and one day we will dance together, mark my words!!! May God continue to bless you and keep the content coming!!!! Thank you for being personable and responding to my DM and leading me here. Peace, love, and blessings 💜 -AD

Omg you are like a reflection of me! I'm 28 and have had a passion/spirit for dancing since I was a kid! I JUST finally took my first ever dance class today! My journey has been a tough one from dealing with depression of being in a small town where you either overdose on drugs or get locked up or stuck, to then experiencing an abusive marriage and ultimately divorce, to finally conquering my weight issues and landing a dream job and getting my health (mental and physical) on the right track! You are both so right about knowing who you are and loving who you are. Loving myself and having faith in me could have prevented the obstacles that I fought to finally get to this place where I was brave enough to take the first step! But I'm here now! And there's no time like the preset; it is a gift. I believe everything happens for a reason. All those experiences made me so much stronger. Proved to myself that I am a fighter and survivor. And I can accomplish any goal I set my mind to. I love hearing how you are going at it at this stage in life too! It gives me inspiration and encouragement. Today in that class my soul came alive and felt energized in a way that it hasn't for a long time. I will continue to work towards my goals and dreams and stay consistent with loving me by no longer doubting me and conquering these classes and more dance career goals. I'm so excited and thankful. Thank you all for this. ❤. Peace and blessings.

Wow. Everything you have said has really spoken to my soul. Everything you've mentioned from moving to places has all been on my mind. What I struggle with is my mental state. It's constantly arguing with me and I struggle to perform infront of others because my mind is always elsewhere. Since practicing mindfullness my performance has improved. I know I need to work on myself first before anything else. I also kept ignoring that becoming a professional dancer was impossible and I couldn't do it. But i've finally admitted to myself this is what I want to do and why I am here. So thank you for this video because like you said there isn't that much out there to help or support you. I'd like to hopefully work with you in the future. I completely agree about social media. It gives people a dopamine and is addictive. Everything you spoke about is how I feel about the world. It was like a breathe of fresh air knowing I'm not crazy and I'm not the only person that thinks like this. Again, thank you.

My name is Deborah I am 26 years old. And I am from Atlanta Georgia! You spin and your equilibrium off, and you stand up all you have to rely on is how well you know your body and when you place your two feet on the floor, finding your horizon within yourself dance can reveal a lot about a person. The way they move, they way learn new steps. I mean if your dancing for real it comes from the most truthful part of your soul. You never asked me why I love to dance people dance because dance can change things. One move can bring people together. One move can make you believe like there’s something more. One move can set a whole generation free. I’ve been watching step up movies I want to live in la California los Angels

Taking notes for myself : 1) set an intention. - Why do you want to be a pro dancer ? !find the self love you need before trying to become this. You'l need it lol! - what kind of jobs do you wanna do ? what kind of choreography, what kind of artists, what kind of life ? have a target. - who are the choreographers you want to work with ? Who gives you the choreos you want to do ? And train with those people, learn their thinking, who they are - where do you need to live ? where do you need to be ? Live where things are happening and your industry thrives. Consistently be around the people you need to be with - when to go in the industry ? wait till you know and love who you are, also get clear on what you want. Reprogram your mind to build up your confidence and self love, your self talk is the key !! 2) how ? Teamwork, punctuality, pr skills (relationship building), looks An agency helps you but you still have the responsibility to do the work Where to train -› with ppl who do the kind of things you wanna do Headshots -› professionnal, look at already existing headshots Resume when starting out : training infos (with who ?) Look the part for the job you wanna be, look like you already belong, take your look very seriously Work on relationship building outside the industry, care about others and get out of your own head , be empathetic and really CARE, love other people , relationship building will make or break career. People will sense when they're just a stepping stone. Think about this from real relationships and after career point of view too. Decisions should be guided by empathy and compassion. (See other specific videos on agent and resume) Use affirmations Book rec : rich dad poor dad 1% of your life is on social media. Make the other 99% incredible. Radiate love if that's What you want from other people. Make your reality look better than Instagram Study success/successful people and they all say the same things, they talk about the same habits etc. : success leaves clues. Take advantage of the power of your mind. Note from myself : Be yourself, wholly and unapologetically. What I mean by that is you are the only person that can be you, so you can bring things to the table that no one else can. Take advantage of that. Don't feel jealousy towards other but be inspired. Be in a mindset of abondance, and what I mean by that is other people's good things don't take away from yours. Don't compare yourself to others to then let it tame and sway you. But keep being aware of the world around you of course.

Being in my last year of highschool, I’ve been dancing since I was 7 years old even participated at a well known studio where I’m from and was part of my high schools dance team. As I kept on doing dance instead of giving it up it had caused me to think about my future career and what I want to be but then I have what you said thoughts in the back of my head of “what if I don’t make it”, “ what if I don’t make enough “, “will I be a disappointment?”, but after watching this video it made me realize that I need to re-evaluate how I want my life to be and realize my self love instead of thinking otherwise of myself. Honestly when you talked about self love it made me cry because I seem confident but then deep down social media as you mentioned lowkey brainwashes me. Feeling the need for likes and comments to give “popularity” or “ give me attention” but that doesn’t help. But yeah thank you for helping me start thinking about my self worth and figuring out my self love.

Thank you for sharing this information I have been working at my dancing and singing career since I was a kid growing up around music .my mom who sustained music into my life when I was younger this is the type of job that I want to do for the rest of my life I don't.t it for passion. I consider and look at it like it's a job and life changing. Environmentally I never had anyone explain or break it down to me about the business and I had to learn it on my own

Antoine, I just want to say that this video is amazing!!! I know I will watch it at least 20 times more. It has so much great insight that I just couldn't absorb it all by watching it once. I'm in college, and what I'm majoring in is the very opposite of dancing, but in the back of my mind, I've always wanted to dance, regardless of whether it's as a career or just for fun. I've been having a mini-crisis every day about what I want to do with my life because I feel like who I truly am and what I really want to do are very different from the career path that I'm going into. One thing certain is that I want to start dancing as soon as possible. There isn't any professional dance studio nearby where I live, but I'm flying back to my hometown next week, so I'm hoping to sign up for a dance class or something if there are any openings. Anyway, I could tell you have gone through a ton of self conversation and reflection and I am so grateful that you were nice enough to share what you've found! Thank you!!

I'm a 14 year old and I'm very interested in the dance industry. I've always watched videos about what it takes and how to make it through, but I was always confused. It was just the same stuff over and over, "make relationships - move to big cities - join auditions - market yourself" and everytime I kept asking HOW? I need to do this, but how do I do it? I finally found this video and it was so helpful, I've taken so many notes on it and I'm a lot more confident in making dance my career. Thank you so much!

Abby, if you need any specific advice hit me up. I moved to LA when I was 18 and knew nothing, learned everything the hard way lol. But now after 20 years dancing professionally I can suggest to get a plan down on paper. Start a savings account for your move (6months-1year of living expenses& moving costs), research the agencies, watch all the content you can on LA choreographers and the dance industry, train as often as you can, go to open classes in Your area, do conventions(b/c they have working choreographers on them), research areas to live, find out where all the studios are that you wanna train at. Antoines is grrrreat!!! “KreativMndz Dance Academy”.(One of my former students who lives in LA now trains and works there and she loves it and has learned so much), get a resume going, headshots, dance shots, and just hit me up or any other pro dancers to get advice to help you as you go! You can do it, keep working hard and plan ahead 😊

Hey, I’m a 20 years old dancer living in Nigeria. I’ve always wanted to be a dancer, like it’s the only thing I know how to do more than anyone around me. But living in Nigeria doesn’t make things easy because I’m a hip hop dancer. My country doesn’t really appreciate that style of dance but I think I’m starting to make a change in the mindsets of people here. Now I’m thinking of going abroad to actually become a professional dancer. Thank you so much for this video, I know who I am now and who I would want to become in the nearest future.

Thank you so much for this. This helped so much get my thoughts together and plan for what I hope to be a better future for me not just as a dancer but also as an individual. I was wondering with knowing the “why, what, when, and the how” is there anything an international dancer can do to get into the industry in LA or Atlanta? I’m sure all the tips and advice still applies exactly the same; however, I know as an international who is living outside the United States there are certain limits and difficulties internationals go through.

  • @hashemmh5208

I live in Saudi Arabia, I went to college in Boston for 5 years and that’s when I discovered what dance really meant for me. So now I’m here in Saudi teaching and trying to actually give voices for dancers here and create something for us here which was my mission; however, with the many legal limitations I have in my country and how the scene is here seems that it won’t be happening because of how everything is being controlled. For me to get to London which is a totally new place for me where as in LA I’m use to visiting and use to be there a lot when I can. As you mentioned choose people that you want to work with and for me those people are in LA. So actually going to LA is what I want and not to say because it’s LA it’s because the choreographers I look up to and want to work with are in LA
