HOW TO MAKE CULTURED BUTTER THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY | USING NO ELECTRICITY

#RAWBUTTER #HOMEMADEBUTTER #CULTUREDBUTTER
Learn how to make homemade butter just like the pioneers made it without electricity. This butter uses cultured cream and is made in an antique glass butter churn. We demonstrate each step of the butter making process from milking the cow to the finished product.
To culture cream we clabbered the raw milk right after hand milking the cow so the cream was never refrigerated at any point during the butter making process.
Thank you for watching and please subscribe to our channel to learn more about homesteading.
Best,
Caren

Hello Hello To both lovelies, Am Saeed from UK originally of Indian descent. Am so so so happy coming across your channel with this video. While growing-up back in India i had seen same traditional method but instead of glass bottle, it was very very huge brass pot .. with Huge wooden Churner .. I need 2 people to churn ... for me as a kid was watching it as some game. Butter was extracted & Butter milk was distributed in the neighbourhood. Today i’ve subscribe ur channel have watched and liked videos.. slowly but surely always keep watching u lovely people. As soon as i saw u guys it was something that whispered .. i like these people. Guys take care & stay blessed/happy. Kind regards, Saeed

I have done this twice now & it works just as you said! My milk took 2 full days to clabber. Then i set my timer for five minutes & had my butter separated. It is SO easy! Thank you so much for this excellent video. One of my few memories from kindergarten is making butter in a jar, passed around for each of us to shake it some. Now at 76 I am making butter the same way again. They don't call old age our 2nd childhood for nothing lol!

Thank you, this brought back memories of my great aunt and uncle on their Missouri farm in the 1950s. As a small child i watched my uncle milk his cow, then the milk went into a cream seperator separator separator. I also remember the cream being churned into butter and the buttermilk being served as a refreshing beverage with little flecks of butter in it. Store bought buttermilk doesn't have the tang i remember. Everything at the farm was hands on. My job was to collect eggs in the hen house and i felt very important to have this job.

Remove/skim off the top cream to make the butter. The rest is clabbered milk you can now make yogurt, or if you;d like milk kefir add milk kefir grains to it. You can drink it as is, bake with it but keep in mind it will get tart the longer you leave it out. if making kefir it will get tart if on day 3 of being out just a heads up. There are many used for clabbered milk search the internet 🙂 You might be able to make mozzarella but I'm also learning to look into that as well, so shall I. ALSO pets and plants can use this clabbered milk use about 1 pint to 1 gallon of water and feed the garden plants or use straight for pets.

I live in an area that is not a dairy country. All I can find in our only store is whole or full-fat Buttermilk with FOUR NASTY THICKNERS. I know real buttermilk doesn't have thickeners. 1 is a seaweed, My GI tract doesn't like Carrageenan. Modified corn starch, tapioca starch, sodium citrate, "locust bean gum " (From the Carob plant), and "carrageenan (SEAWEED)". Tell me why you'd do that to it? U.S.D.A., APPROVED! Really ruins a good product. Read your labels.

Hello! Lovely video and stories. Just wondering, does this work with store bought milk or does the pasteurization process change it?

Yes, you can but there are some caveats. Here is an article that will help: cheesemaking.com/products/butter-cultured-butter-recipe#:~:text=Can%20we%20use%20pasteurized%20or,fresh%20cream%20is%20always%20better.
