I have viewed your video. Definitely a good effort. You have shown applaudable long effort of 90 days. Here I will suggest some useful tips to prepare compost in less period and of higher fertilizing value:- 1. Garbage and kitchen waste be SHREDDED IN SMALL PIECES ( inclusive of used tea bags). 2. After extracting juices of carrot, fruits etc, their chopped waste is best for adding to compost material. Some time I collect it from Juice Points (shops) for the said purpose. 3. Include soil (5-10%) and mix it thoroughly. It will make faster the decaying process. 4. The compost material be covered with jute bags rather than plastic sheet. 5. Gardening/Kitchen gardening is a very good hobby which not only provides fresh & free kitchen needs but also keeps me physically fit even at the age of 77. Abdul Majeed, Rawalpindi

Fantastic! Worms would be highly beneficial if you gave them. If you have cardboard boxes, open them up an use wet it down and use instead of plastic! Happy gardening!

I put small cardboard boxes in the garden and put my garden waste and veggies waste in mix a little soil with it,l leave it until spring plant right on top works great from Indiana

nice but instead of plastic at the bottom ,thick layered cardboards can be used . that way it will retain moisture and its organic too.and it will help in faster decomposing.just my two cent.

A much easier/lazy way to do it. No need for the hole, the plastic or even chopping the raw material. Simply pile it up in the chosen location. Water and keep it moist enough. Turn/mix from time to time. Finished product is just about the same. Might take slightly longer. If done "upstream" of the planted area, even the extra work of making the compost tea can be spared. Spreading it´s also easier. Any watering of the compost will leach into the plants. ;-) Now to be easier than this, only buying it ready and done. LOL :-) This particular one seems to have been done in a very dry and hot area. Judging by the sandy soil looks and the fact the gentleman is using flip-flop´s. As such the use of the plastic for a basin and the cover, makes sense to preserve water. ;-)

Very nice video and hats off to patience of person making it. The way he is handling the things he looks like a pro. We are making compost and vermicompost in our flat in Delhi using Kitchen waste and red Worms. We have videos on them at our channel. I will ask few questions regarding few queries I have after watching the video. Composting is done with microbes in presence of oxygen. Here I see pit covered with plastic sheet and also excess water is there which will not allow free air circulation. In absence of oxygen the decomposing will be done by microbe who do not need oxygen. This way the waste will rot with foul smell. Other question is about height of pit. For Composting to take place the heat should be retained inside bin or pit. For this height or depth should be between 2 to 3 feet. And as temperature increase different set of microbe take over to complete the decomposing. Lastly is it not advisable to shred the waste to smaller Size to reduce process time?

Joydeep Dam ji thanks for excellent detail point to point answer to me query. As we have mentioned that we too do our bit of composting in our home which take care of our waste and also provide free, and nutritious food for our plants in terrace garden. We try to gain knowledge before we go about doing a thing. From our gained knowledge and experience We would like to add few things to your answers for the benefit of people wishing to undertake composting at home. Q about foul smell Drawback of anaerobic composting is not only limited to foul smell due to release of methane and ammonia. It is a slow process too. It also lacks the nitrogen , phosphorous produced by micro organism doing aerobic composting. So it will pay if you manage moisture and turn around the waste ones a week for proper aeration for aerobic composting to take place resulting inr faster composting which will have higher nutritional value too. Q Height of the pit As per our gained knowledge the pit should have minimum dimensions of 3 x 3 x 3 feet and maximum of 5 x 5 x 5 feet. The reason behind is that for aerobic composting to take place at faster pace the heat generated due to composting should be retained in the center of waste heap. There are 3 set of micro organism which do the aerobic composting. First set start it and take the temperature to certain value and then they become inactive. After that second set of micro organism take over and do the composting. Temperature inside waste goes to another level making second set of micro organism inactive. Third set take over and do the final composting. So size is important for trapping of heat inside the waste heap for faster composting. One tip which I am sure we all are aware is to use of jute bags to cover the pit instead of plastic bag. It will allow aeration in the pit helping in aerobic composting while preventing the insects from outside to enter the pit. I hope it will help people watching this excellent composting video.

Sir u use only cow dung+soil take it for 25 day in the tup or down the soil daily shower the cow dung and after 25 days its colour will be changes mix the soil and dung and use for future plants it is easy process
