✅Ingredients
• 1/2 cup salted butter
• 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
• 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 cups chicken broth
• 1½ cups milk
• 2 egg yolks
• 1/3 cup heavy creamy
• 1 cup frozen peas
• 1 cup chopped drained pimientos
• 4 cups chopped cooked chicken
✅Instructions
1️⃣ 00:00:13 - In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add in mushrooms and cook until mushrooms are soft, about 5 minutes.
2️⃣ 00:00:31 - Add in flour and stir until there are no more specks of flour left. Pour in chicken broth and milk and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce is thickened, about 3 minutes.
3️⃣ 00:01:06 - For a richer sauce: in a small mixing bowl, whisk together egg yolks with heavy cream. Working quickly, slowly pour in 1/2 cup of the hot mixture into the egg mixture while whisking vigorously. Immediately pour this mixture back into the saucepan, whisking the entire time. Cook 2 minutes more.
4️⃣ 00:01:44 - Stir in frozen peas, pimientos, and cooked chicken and let heat through, 2 to 3 minutes.
5️⃣ 00:02:18 - Serve hot over cooked rice, pasta, toast, or biscuits.

Great recipe and video. Thank you for keeping it so short. There are KZreadrs that would spend 1/2 an hour with the recipe you just presented in 3 minutes! I'm looking forward to trying your recipe soon. Thank you

Don't ya love the 5 minute recipe for something whose video is 45 mins long?!😂
Made this today. Hubby and I love it! I will be making this regularly as a great way to use up leftover chicken.
Love this video for the amateur chefs who try at home. Versus everyone else advice this is a great tutorial for amateurs. But if you're reading this, 2 years later as of this writing. You can sub peas for broccoli. You can also add peppers, red to sub for pimento. But I also use a blend of white and red onion about a quarter onion each. Depending on your batch. Don't forget your celery and carrots (if you'd like). Don't over salt if you use store bought broth.
Finally a short video right to the point on how to make this recipe, thxs...

That brings back fond memories of my mother making that 😄
Made this lastnite. Only thing I did differently was adding sliced onion and carrots to the pan with the mushrooms. It was fantastic. Hell of a recipe!

I made this and it is very good...never made a la king before. 2 egg yolks made the sauce a bit too thick; will use only 1 next time. I used 1/2 pkg (1 cup) of frozen peas/carrots, 1 celery stalk and 2 stems if green onion. I served it over a biscuit. My wife loves it. Thank you! 😊
wow!..it's look simple cooking, delicious and i will try it.
Thanks for helping to bring back this Vintage Classic! I actually started cook Chicken ala King for the first-time last year. Great comfort food! 😋👍

Chicken a la King is one of my favorites. But the lady in the video brought it to an all new high.
Thanks for the yummy recipe. I made it last night over rice. Brought back memories of the 80s. Water it down a bit and you have a fantastic cream of mushroom and chicken soup. Much better than anything store bought. I love this woman's videos. They are to the point, well documented and her at ease style makes the recipes very easy to follow. Thanks again.

Just made it and it was perfect, reminded me of been a kid. I worked in a small restaurant when I was 18 years of age as a waiter and we had it on the bar menu and it tasted exactly like that. Such happy memories, thank you so much.
Oh wow. I really enjoyed watching this tutorial. It felt as if an older sister was teaching me how to make a challenging dish. Thank you very much. I’ve subscribed and joined the family 😊😊😊
I made this no problem. I am a 36 year old Male and have never been good at cooking what so ever. I started watching your videos towards the end of summer and since then I have been really into cooking. You've changed my life. My family loves my (your) cooking. Thank you. Keep the videos coming and I'll keep making them.

I looooooove Chicken a la King over rice. I've never had it over noodles, but I'd love to try it that way as well. I can honestly say, that I've seen multiple Chicken a la King recipe videos, but in this video it came out looking the best of all. Yours is appealing to the eyes, and I bet it's even more appealing to the tastebuds. Thank you so much for sharing!

Yummy! 😋 I want to do something with the leftover rotisserie chicken and this will a fantastic way of utilizing it. Thank you so much!
Onion and bell pepper make this dish, totally worth a shot. Sweat the onions briefly before u add flour, and then after the raw flour taste is cooked out, add bell pepper and cook for 1 minute before deglazing
Wow, like it a lot, definitely will give it a try, thanks for sharing!
I tried your recepie today and it turned out amazing!

Feeling nostalgic for something that I used to eat once a week as a kid I made this recipe, and except that it's a little more complicated than my mother would make (and includes peas) it's actually better! Now have another simple back-pocket dish to pull out whenever it's needed! Thanks!

Excellent !!!
This recipe is so 1950 but it is a golden oldie and it's back in style again. For a real 1950 "ladies luncheon" serve it over popovers that are split open and garnish with spiced red apple rings! (Google popovers if you are not sure about them.)

With my home made Chicken stock, this is delicious. I also use G and R pepper and a hunk or diced garlic.
I'm going to try this
Thank you for this wonderful, classic recipe! I can't wait to make it. I'm going to use a rotisserie chicken and substitute the peas and pimentos with frozen peas & carrots. This should work as well, right? 😋 Yum, yum!
Thank you so much!
My suggestion - in order of yummification - as I love me some C-A-L-K since I was a lil’ boy... Biscuits Pasta Toast - the rest. It’s even great on a baked potato or fried diced potatoes.. Yum Good recipe!
