I very much enjoyed your video, you made everything look so simple and easy to do. May I ask, did you pit your cherries (remove the seed) before making this recipe? Here we would just call it "Cherries in simple syrup." The syrup is made lightly by just adding equal parts white pure cane sugar and filtered water (I use filtered because here there is a lot of chlorine in the water). The syrup can be made with more sugar if preferred, but I like a lighter syrup that does not mask the taste of those lovely cherries, I would also fill the jars with more cherries. My grandmother used to put just a dash (a very small amount) of cinnamon in her syrup. I believe you can also put a cherry liqueur or brandy in the syrup to make drunken cherries. I like the water-bath method of canning, where you would put your filled jars into boiling water for about 15 minutes (water must cover the jars by at least an inch or two). I have seen the method you use when an Italian grandma made tomato sauce on her channel and she covered everything in thick bed covers until they slowly cooled down. I love how cheery you are in your videos and how sweet and loving you are with your children. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us. Blessings to you and your lovely family.

Oh REALLY?????????!!!!!!!!! WOOOOWZERS! This is so very lovely of you. Thank you so very much. It really means a lot to me because you're not just a random person. You are a person who has such a loving heart and whose expression is always so much filled with love so that although I'm far away from you and seeing you only with your videos, still your love reaches me. I also love how much you enjoy yourself while eating delicious food. There's a wisdom that says "We are what we think while making the food we eat." And I think this is exactly you. You are full of love. And so is your cooking & baking. In addition I do enjoy how your kids are involved in this process and you are never angry when they add to much or too little ingredients into the dish. My mum would go crazy! And called me failure and asshole etc. So as I mentioned the other days before, your channel is not only a treasure filled with delicious recipe for me but also kind of a therapy. I'm serious, but I can imagine there are some people here who think that I'm silly because I write this. My birthday is on 18 th of September and I'm turning 38 *omg* (May I kindly add: I'm pescetarian, so I eat everything out of the ocean but no other meat)

After you fill the jars and screw on the tops, do you have to put the jars in a pot of boiling water?

Chris Bax Yes, you have to boil the jars, then let them sit, covered until you hear the "pop" which means they have sealed. Remove them from the pot and let sit until cool enough to handle. Then you can put them in a cool, dry place for storage. Enjoy!

You are so sweet lady, and for how long you cooked the cherries.

This is called preserved cherries in syrup or simply preserved cherries. Compote is more like a sauce and a pie filling.

No compote in eastern europe is literally boiled fruit juice.

I think that cherries are fruit. Not a berry.
