How to make braids with your palm you received on Palm Sunday
Note: If your palm branch is dry, you can place it in a bath of water for 10 to 30 minutes and it will soften enough for you to do the braid.
I had learned how to do these with my father when I was a little girl. Many people have since asked me how to do these braids? So I have decided to pass on the knowledge that my father received as a child which he passed on to me.
Patience is important in doing these! Be kind to yourself!

Thank you so much for this video. I grew up across the alley from Czechoslovakian neighbors, who took me and my siblings into their home after Palm Sunday Mass and helped us braid our palms. Even though now days, you only get one or two leaves, I weave them together to make at least one braid. My problem is getting started - so thank you for the "tip" of the cross, and thank you for the very quiet and helpful video.

My grandfather use to do this for me 50 years ago, when I brought home the palm from Palm Sunday Mass. He never taught me how to do it. Years later, I was sorry I never learned the technique from him. I thought someone would put it on You Tube. THANKS!

polish-americans do the same; there’s also a way to make them rounded. my grandma made round palms and placed them behind a painting of jesus’ sacred heart, mom made squared palms like you’re doing here. ours were a lot longer though! thanks for this video.🙂
