How to Make Blackout Poetry - Art and Literacy Activity | Zart Art
Blackout poetry is a fun way to link art and literacy.

Try some abstract poems as well as poems which flow. As you get better at picking out words try incorporating imagery into your blackouts.
In this lesson students will create their own piece of black out poetry. Students will choose a piece of text either from a book, newspaper or a printed document. They will pick out words that stand out to them and emphasize these words by drawing around them with black markers.

Wanting to create a blackout poetry program for people recovering from addiction. Do you have any online resources for templates I could print? I have a few excerpts from some books but would like more options. Any help is appreciated!

For this project we used an artist biography that we found on google. These can be very inspirational or using speeches from politicians, celebrities or other world leaders may be a good starting point. I hope that helps!
