Sir I've been to gardening for past 3 years...this year,I made some excellent growths in my plants and they're flourishing with your informative advice... I have almost 84 clay pots of different size and to try something new this time,I bought 6 plastic pots... Bt with the same potting mixture, the plants contained in plastic pots aren't grown compared to those in clay pots...almost half in size,and the plants seem to be sick at a glance...why this discrimination? What should I do?

Less water and make sure drainage is good in plastic pots.

Plastic pot is like wearing a plastic dress, no ventilation or aeration. Means the inside rots and smells. Clay pots on the other hand are like cotton, a god given quality which will cost 1000s of rupees to replicate in man made materials via nano pores etc. Clay comes with default nano and micro pores. Avoid platic pots and pollution. This trend is just like the pesticide boom, good in short term but harmful long term, both to plant, environment and community (by destroying clay artisans and pot makers)

If you don't have access to garden soil then just use coco peat, compost and other stuff. I've many plants on the balcony and the substrate is just the mix of coco peat and vermicompost.

For basic soilless potting mix you can use 1 part cocopeat, 1 part vermicompost and 1 part vermiculite. But, then you have to buy plants that are potted in soilless mix from nursery. If you buy plants those are in soil then you have to remove soil from roots to make it soilless. I only use soilless when I buy seedlings from nursery. I wash all soil from seedling and then put it in soilless medium.
