How to Make Awesome Bases Using This One Cork

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Turning a Bottle Cork into some beginner friendly Warhammer 40k , Age of Sigmar Bases and other miniatures. Even making some texture paint out of it. The power of Cork really does go a long way. Alternatively you can use for Age of Sigmar, Dungeons and Dragons and Star Wars Legion.

    5 years into the hobby and I never mixed cork pieces with a cheap paint. Looks good, thanks for the advice.

    Very cool stuff. I got me a set of cork coasters that I tore up and used to make some varying levels of elevation on the bases, giving them some levels, having the special or commander units on more elevation than the others. They're great because the surface of the coasters, though essentially smooth, gives a kind of dry cracked earth effect, the small recesses are good for washes, but the smooth surface makes it easy to plant the mini's feet.

    Ye cork sheets are awesome. I used to use them a lot more often but recently been having issues finding those with the right type of cork. Most stuff seems far too soft for some reason.

    Lot's of great information in one short video! Just acquired my first pigment powders and looking forward to using them now. Also, fantastic way to use sprue!

    Glad some of it ended up being useful :D. Pigment powders are really fantastic, they have a very large amount of uses but tend to be underused a lot. You can even do a textury panel wash with them, by diluting them in water and then cleaning up the excess with a wet q-tip. I have a massive graveyard of sprues, so I keep trying to put them to use 😄

    I noticed you are using acrylic guoache, i started using it too. would love to see a video focusing on how managing thinning it is different than hobby paints. I also find coverage really different probably because a lot of them are only single pigment to 1-3 pigments.

  • @AnotherDayMiniatures

    Yeah, they're super interesting, and I'm pretty sure they're a mix of acrylic inks and paint. When it comes to thinning, I just use water, kind of like with regular paint. The coverage is fantastic because the pigment is so fine, and mixing them is very predictable, just like you said, because they only have a few pigments in them. I use them more as a technical paint for their unique properties, however they are a bit strange to use a primary paint. For wet blending, they are next level. I personally don't use wet blending often, but these paints are an amazing aid for learning it.

    Never tought of mixing grates cork with (cheap) paint, generally I use coffee powder for texturing bases, this could be another alternative.

    Good evening, thanks for another great guide! I would like to ask you if there will be a video about painting the Imperial Fists with a sponge (I hope that thanks to your IF guide my two months of suffering will finally end) and in principle I would like to know if you will continue to paint the remaining legions with a sponge space marine?

  • @AnotherDayMiniatures

    @AnotherDayMiniatures

    Hey! Imperial Fists are absolutely something I'm working on. I'll be making a full video on them painting them in several different styles, hopefully giving some interesting choice in both look and technique. Most likely it will be the next video or the video after that. I've already had one test that didn't work out, so I've adjusted it to have far better results. Hopefully I will eventually work through all chapters, some of their successors and even make some of my own! :D

    I would recommend not using auto-focus when doing macro shots so the mini remains in focus even when your hands are in frame.

    A simple question... are the caps those taken from used bottles or are they simple caps that have not yet been used to close the bottles? Because I wouldn't want the wine (or ANYTHING) to mold.

    Unfortunately I do not, it's some random brushes I found in a dollar store, they were called "Ink brushes". I don't use those too often as I found they were very difficult to clean and do stain a little hard.
