I got a dumb question but, please just humor me w/ an answer. -- When you were twist-tying, then taping the ground wires & others separately, then together, it wasn't electrical tape you used. It looked like just standard masking tape. Is that correct? If not, what kinds of tape are ok & safe to use? ...thanks again!

Hey try using samsang and other standard earphones wires.

If it doesn't work, you didn't burn off the coated colours on the wire / even the ground wire.
