Polofua with pork sausages eaten with takihi is just heaven. Love my Niuean food. ❤🇹🇴
this ain't no cooking show. It's a cultural Extravaganza. Great work lads.
Maori call Bolofua Poroporo. We eat the purple berries and sometimes if your lucky you may find greeny yellowy berries on the plant. We never use poroporo if the stem or leaves are purple. We mainly use it in a boil up, but you have now given me the most luscious of recipes and I'm off to forage for weeds...Umu are THE BEST!

So good to see the Pacific style of cooking alive and well in the city. In Papua New Guinea our earth oven is called "Mumu". Also we call our bolofua plant "karakap" and can also use aibika for the same dish. Wan Nesia ;)
I like the way you guys do your umu, and thanks for keeping our traditions, God bless you
Living in Tokyo now, I constantly miss and crave for umu (we call it motu where I'm from).

Try it, don't use ripe paw paw use semi ripe, the flesh should be crunch when you bite into the paw paw. Its our traditional stable food. Goes with any protein.
Yeaboi styles my bros🤙🤙😁 dat kick flip was lit too cuz😂
When u make the dish with taro and peaches when U add coconut cream do you add salt or not????
Nero Claudius loved to say "umu"
Awesome guys
Bro it's the river rocks that explode under heat. You should use volcanic rock.

@TheCoconetTV With the Bolofua Deadly Knightshade version... do you remove the berries?
@niueanlaho
4 жыл бұрын
yes remove the berries......only use the bolofua leaves.....its very bitter.....but for the Niueans,its very yummy......cook it with chicken,the chicken fat juices adds flavor to the bolofua making it less bitter.......try bolofua and cornbeef with coconut cream mmmmm....yummy.......

Brother this looks like a group of real happy chappies together. I am perplexed though as you said the nightshade is poison. Were you serious at all? Thank you for posting this. Blessings from a cold and rainy Cape Town - South Africa. D 💖

They think its poison but its not, when you eat it its more of a sour taste then anything, we love it.

It's poisonous if eaten raw. When cooked it's bitter but usually mixed with coconut cream.
