How to make an L shaped flower arrangement - BASIC FLORISTRY/FLOWER ARRANGING

This week we are 'Looking Again' at the L shape arrangement. As its name says, L shaped arrangement is designed using the shape of letter "L". This is one of the typical asymmetrical arrangements and is achieved by using a minimal quantity of flowers with the emphasis on Line flower materials opposed to Massed flowers which would create and Asymmetric triangle.
I've looked at this design a few times but this week I've used a tall container to help you understand a higher level of flower arranging.
If you are new to arranging, take a few minutes to view my Back to Basics series which will explain how to create a very all round arrangement using a minimal amount of flowers.

Can you give me any ideas for using vintage ale bottles, They range from 8 to 12 inches tall but the neck has an opening the size of a gallon jug, The reception is in a 200 year old vintage inn. Tables will be different sizes, Is there a foam base that has way to anchor into the jars,

Could you fill them with water and just add flower stems into the containers? Or sit them on a posy pad or wreath base?

It would be too tall . I was hoping they made a tray on a post. I was experimenting with using a candle holder hot glued to a tray but hard to balance.

Hi Sharon. I once used some really pretty kid's Wellington boots as my containers for a Spring breakfast arrangement. I really battled with the design. It looked like I had just shoved the flowers in. Which style design would work best in the boots?

  • @sharondower

You often get problems with actual balance with Wellington boots as the boot itself is flimsy so it becomes unstable. I would use the vertical line style so the weight is evenly over the boot. You could added some sand into the base of the boot to make it more stable. Hope that helps
