  • @memnoch1974

Scott. Finally got my hands on two bottles of VRP and did the 4 "squirts" in a 32 oz spray bottle. Eyeballing it, I'm guessing I made a 15:1 solution. Anyway, topped off with distilled water and went into giving my interior trip a touch up. So far, I like it...it has good wetting action across a few different types of surfaces and I noticed that it dried rather quickly - not sure if the solution absorbed into the plastics or just evaporated off. Weird since I live in Florida and it's very humid tonight and I was surprised a liquid evaporated kind of quick. Anyway, once dried, I did not see a shine, but more of a clean surface. I use Meguiar's Interior Cleaner or Griot's Interior Cleaner and this 15:1 solution of VRP behaves similar to those interior cleaners without the "cleaning" abilities since VRP is a dressing, not a cleaner. So my surfaces were rather matte with no noticeable shine/gloss. But the question is: would a 15:1 solution provide a benefit to them plastics? I'm tempted to play with a 5:1 solution or even 10:1 solution of VRP. So far, I like it. I like the idea of using this VRP solution after Griot's Interior Cleaner once in a while.

Hi Scott, Thank for the video and great tip. I'm currently using Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer, which I used all over the interior of the car, including my navigation and other lcd screens. It's safe for those applications. Would you say that diluted VRP would be comparable to Meguiars QID? Would it be safe to use on navigations screens? I like the idea of having a tire dressing and interior detail all from the same product, plus use the VRP on all the black plastic around the bottom of my SUV as well.

I really love these thinking outside the box uploads of how you can really stretch your products, really handy tips to pass on. I know this is a silly question, but I might as well ask. I always use a microfibre towel to wipe the panel etc, exterior and interior. How about a face flannel? This would only be in a desperate measure if I haven't got anymore microfibre towels which are clean and ready to use. Many thanks.

I absolutely love Chemical guys products, I know there are maybe too many of them, but as an amateur detailer, I find these products achieve amazing results, I am more than happy with them, I used to use petroleum based tyre dressing, it gives good results but collects dirt and is awful to try to remove, thank you Scott for introducing me to VRP, from my favourite brand Chemical Guys, I watched your other video about tyre dressing, in which you featured VRP, now I only use this method for dressing my tyres, an amazing glossy result, the tyres really pop !, also they are easier to clean and re dress, I have binned off my petroleum dressing now, it's either VRP or Tyre and Trim Gel, also by Chemical Guys, all the way for me, thanks again Scott, you've made my world better !! x.

dilution of the solution would also dilute it's protective property from UV from claimed manufacturer standards. How to negate the effects of dilution on original properties? probably it would be a compromise of one property of the product to gain another!

That exactly was my point ! when products claim they protect from UV, we don't know how much and for how long they last, as we don't have a scale with which we measure it! most of us trust what the manufacturer claims the product will do and so when we dilute it without a base scale we wouldn't know what we are altering regards' protective' function. Please share in your experience if you had come across some method of assessing the UV protection capabilities between various products.

Why is distilled water important with other chemicals? I have a water softener system in my home. Does soft water with the minerals removed work as well as distilled water? Is there a difference? Might be good topic for a video. Thanks!

Steve Greer De-ionized or distilled water contain the least amount of minerals, and minerals will not allow the product to bond properly and could leave visual residue.

Water softening to work involves an exchange of ions. You mainly exchange sodium (from the salt pellets to add a few times a month) with calcium carbonate. So at the end you do not get "pure water" with softened water. But distilled is pure water and is best for diluting chemicals.

its a cool trick Nick and just play with how much you place in the water and find that sweet spot for you...start with two or three squirts and see if you like the look and if not just apply more in the bottle...years ago like an idiot i ran out of hyper dressing and i tried this trick and i was very surprised:)

I stopped using anything on my panels and dash in 2010 except for a brush, a mild water based cleaner, and a microfiber cloth. Never been happier and my interior has never looked better without having that overhyped dressed look.

It's a good product, it's my choice for interior UV protection & rubber seal protection. And you can get it at Walmart.

Is also fine, 303 is waterbased so non flamable. It also doesn't leave alot of shine behind, so it's good for maintaining new engine bays :)
