How to make an English Cuppa | Binaural ASMR Tea Making

Hello! Fancy a cuppa? An ASMR ‘tongue in cheek’ tutorial on how to make a good old reliable English cup of tea…. This has been on my ‘videos I really want to make’ list since the beginning of this channel. I am working on a few exciting ASMR things in the background at the moment so it seemed the perfect time for this little video…. exciting things will be announced in time :-D
I hope you’re having a positive start to this new week. With love, Emma XX Ps. I seem to be sporting rather Chipolata style fingers in this video. Made me chuckle during editing. Mustn't be my best side ;-D

oh Emma, this video was great! I am in america, and us Americans are coffee obsessed, whereas tea is a little more out of the spotlight. there are still plenty of tea drinkers, but america certainly runs on coffee. I've just started getting into tea myself, and exploring different types as to what's right for me. you helped me out greatly!

I like a strong brew, no one ever makes it strong enough for me. I squeeze the teabag afer steeping for at least 2 minutes for maximum flavour. My silly husband pours the milk in SECONDS after starting to steep the tea. A proper brew is an art from.

+BunnaySango I like a strong brew too, but I have to have decaf tea leaves so when I brew tea in the morning its a test to leave the bag in there long enough for flavour but not so long that it actually gets cold. I live everyday in suspense seeing what it turns out like and trying to improve.

+BunnaySango I'm a huge fan of Christopher Hitchens and George Orwell; both of whom wrote an essay about the proper way of making tea. I'll say a few of the rules that they both say are essential. Firstly, the water must be at boiling point when it first hits the tea. This is best achieved by bringing your teapot/mug to the kettle rather than taking the kettle to your teapot/mug so that as little amount of time passes between the water reaching boiling point and the water making contact with the tea. Secondly, you must stir the tea before letting it steep and also you must allow the tea to steep for - as you said - at least 2 minutes. Thirdly, the tea must go first and then the milk shall proceed it. Those who put the milk in first are sadistic. The argument that Orwell used, that is said is "unanswerable" is that, by putting the tea in first, you are able to perfectly regulate the tea to milk ratio whereas, if you put milk in first, it is quite possible to have put too much milk in to begin with. Fourthly, NO SUGAR. Orwell maintains that there is no point in adding sugar because it overwhelms the taste of the tea and that, for those who say they use sugar to cover up the taste of the tea, they might as well drink plain boiled water with added sugar OR at least they should spend a few weeks drinking sugarless tea in order to convert them. Orwell provided like 6 other rules however they are very outdated and go on about Indian vs Chinese tea, pewter teapots vs enamel teapots, loose tea, muslin bags, etc.

Nah ya see I make my tea in a stainless steel teapot! Boil the kettle slowly on the hob then fill the teapot with the water up to a certain level depending on the number of cups, add 1 YORKSHIRE TEA bag per person then let it mash for 5-10 minutes, 7.5 is preferable, while that's mashing add semi-skimmed to the fine bone china cup (mugs are for coffee and paper cups are for the bin) then pour the tea into the milk, add 2 sugars and enjoy with some Betty's confectionary! Done :P
