Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. kzread.infoUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.

Really cool idea, perfect for a small or really lite person. Probably the only acceptable condition for the rim of that wheel, I've used them before but that rim is not very strong , would need to use a steel rim from a wheelbarrow or front rim of a riding mower for anyone more than 50lbs. But in this case it's perfect. Awesome job.

Have you made any tweaks to this? I modified my snowracer and next year will probably add a motor. Ideally one that can be removed easily. Anything you wish you did differently?

The wheels you can get at home depot or lowes, they're usually meant for wheel barrows, 2-wheel dollies, snow blowers and ride around lawn mowers. Electric motor aren't really hard to come by, Amazon would probably be best bet if you don't have any hardware stores around.

Heh, nice.. Back in the early 90's me and my friend's did do similar. Only that we made it with chainsaw engine and some.. 6 i think? Saw blades side by side. It was used on icy lake. Under the front ski, there was somekinda metal thing, cannot remember anymore. But helping guide the steering on ice. Damn it was fun. But a bit scary, we didnt have any covers anywhere lol.

I’m thinking about taking the hub motor from my ebike kit. That was 1000w 48volts. If it is the same as the ebike the voltage is more important.

Nice project 😺 But my brain hurts when you're using the lathe. Don't you have a tailstock to the lathe? Some day the workpiece is going to orbit, hopefully not hurting you or someone else. And your work will be much better quality when using the tailstock 😺 When you "show" us the specifications of the electric motor, please speed down the video so we have a chance to read 😸 Keep up the good work and stay safe 😺

"a little too much snow?" ... I get it..but where there's as will, there's a way...what adjustments would be needed to modify that vehicle to handle a heavy snow scenario? Larger frame perhaps...with larger wheel, gear and motor...added suspension? I'm in Chicago, USA and just inherited a basement FULL of power tools and alot of time on my hands.

  • @matthewbrown5228

The only effective way to handle large amounts of snow is with a track, large surface area to get more traction. That's why all standard snow mobiles have tracks. Adding more or larger wheels wouldn't solve this because they still only have small cross sections in contact with the snow.
