If you use the Velcro in a roll, you might want to have a dedicated pair of “Velcro Scissors.” Cutting Velcro can ruin a pair of scissors. One idea that I have used is paper clips. Make a slit a bit above where you want the answer to go. Then slip a paper clip in so one part of the clip is on each side of the clip. Tape the back of the clip down. Then the kiddos can simply slide the answer card under the front of the clip.

I use the hard side of Velcro for all my movable things as well. To help organize or hold the loose pieces for my students I use the craft felt pieces. The stiff kind works the best, but the softer ones work too. Also a tip for scissors and Velcro. Spray the scissors with cooking spray before cutting the Velcro. It helps keep them from getting sticky! If you are doing lots of cutting you may need to spray again. I normally wipe it around with a paper towel. I do have a pair of scissors I use just for Velcro because the spray will make the scissors a little greasy.

Thanks for these ideas! I have yet to take the leap to buy an actual binding machine but still want to make some adapted books for my students.

I just found your channel, but I plan on going through all your videos. I have a 13 year old who is in a self-contained special education class due to intellectual/developmental disability and some days it can definitely be a struggle handling some of his behaviours and trying to have conversations with him. Even from the quick look at the couple videos of yours so far, it seems like I might find some tips to help here. Thank you to yourself and all the other teachers out there that do amazing work for kids like him, and all other kids too!

I want to create something interactive but I wonder if having students rely on pictures instead of reading the word, will have a negative impact on them
