How to make a wonderful water rocket parachute (have fun with your kids or students PART 3)

Do you know how to make awesome Water Rockets Parachute quick and easily? Let’s check out this tutorial video to guide you step by step to make your own water rocket parachute (DIY).
Materials:
1 x Garbage bag (suggested bigger is better)
1 x Nylon Twine
2 x Rubberband
1 x Postman rubber band
1 x Retractable ruler
1 x Paper punch
1 x Scotch tape (suggested cloth tape is better)
1 x Flexible straw
1 x Scissor
2 x Nails
As water rocket is a potentially dangerous activity and so to be safe to play with your students or kids, besides applying pressure below 200kPa, we can build a parachute to slow down the speed when it landing.
Parachute attached can highly decrease the potential injury when you have fun with your small kids.
Parachutes are designed to reduce the terminal velocity of the falling object. Terminal velocity is reached when the weight of the object is equal to the drag force caused by the air resistance. At that time, there is no net acceleration, and the object keeps on falling at a steady speed.
To further slow down the falling speed (reduce the terminal velocity), we can build a large parachute because the drag force increases with increases the surface area of the parachute.
Note: The larger the surface area of the parachute the longer time needed to open the parachute, so to ensure it can open smoothly at the right altitude, the method of folding the parachute is very important. In the video, I will show you the comparison of the results due to 2 different methods of folding the parachute.

注意:降落伞的表面积越大，打开降落伞所需的时间就越长，所以为了保证在正确的高度能够顺利打开，降落伞的折叠方法非常重要。

what would you do if you wanted to attach an egg to it? Because my project says to land the egg safely using a water bottle rocket with a parachute.

hi, sorry for late response if the purpose is just to let the egg safely landed then suggestion for you is instead of attaching the parachute to the cover, you can stick the parachute directly to the egg

Hi Alya, Terminal velocity is the speed at which the weight of the falling object is equal to the upward drag force caused by air resistance, causing the falling object to fall at a constant speed.

It depends on the diameter,d of your parachute. Usually is 1.5d of the parachute.

all the materials are replaceable, you can use what ever similar materials that you have to instead. Furthermore, all the materials that I have used also can get them in the shops, for example DIY or stationary shop. The prices also very cheap. ^^
