When most people think of a Tesla coil, they imagine a large, imposing object with sparks flying everywhere. However, it is possible to make a tiny Tesla coil that is just a few inches tall. This coil can be powered by a small battery and can produce millions of volts. The key to making a tiny Tesla coil is to use a high-voltage capacitor. This capacitor will store the energy that is produced by the battery and release it in short bursts. The secondary coil of the Tesla coil should have a very large number of turns, as this will increase the voltage output. The final step is to create an ignition system. This system will create an arc between the two coils and will generate the sparks that everyone loves to see. By following these simple steps, you can create your own tiny Tesla coil that packs a powerful punch. Theoretically yes!

But more the no. of turns in the secondary coil the mosfet will get hotter and hotter (not sexy hot). So I suggest to use a high power mosfet like irfp260n or, even better irfp460n

Replacing the spark gap with transistors IRF540 and 2n2222 makes Tesla coil smaller, more efficient and easier to build. The transistor acts as a switch to turn the current on and off in the primary coil. This just resonant nature of Tesla coil creates high voltage and frequency which is used to create sparks.

Any of these slayers substitute 1/2 watt potentiometer for the Resistor that way you can turn the power up mount a Cfl on top of the secondary pop bottle plastic. The Mosfet circuit one is better but they both work.
