    Hi. Just found your great tutorial. I bought material about 6 months ag with the intent of making a table runner for my daughter. Could not figure out where to start. This a special fabric and I kept putting off cutting it since I can't find any more of the design. Your tutorial was just what I needed and I just finished her Christmas gift. It came out perfect. Thank you sooo much.

    I meant to add this was exactly what I was looking for as a beginner. I have watched videos most seem to be quilted or with borders and I het the quilted kitchen mats and borders, I just do not seem to understand how to do the runners with borders for some reason. It looks so easy and I have waisted fabric to try it but with no success. Your a great teacher. Thanks again.

    Hi Sherrille, hope your Christmas was a good one. Thank you for the advice on the 4 corners table runner . It came out beautiful. I kinda chicken out with the quilting. But I can always go back and do it. I will send pictures on it. Another question. Now I’m going to make fabric napkins with the leftover material. I want Two-way napkins to match the runner. but also would like it to be mitered on the corners. Is that possible?

    When you snip around the curve, without clipping the seam, what keeps it from unraveling after it’s turned? Would pinking shears help?

  • @TheSewingRoomChannel

    @TheSewingRoomChannel

    5 ай бұрын

    Hi Mary. You should do small clips towards the seams on the curves, or use pink shears (but don't make the seam to wide on the corner). After turning the table runner front side out, press all the seams. Then do top stitching along the outer edges - about 1/8" wide. This will keep the table runner's shape, also prevent unraveling of the seams. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍

    Hello, I need to make a table runner for a table that has rounded edges. I need to either use a tassel or beaded fringe on it. My question is, how do I make the hangover edge to fit the round of the table and drape correctly? Thank you!

  • @TheSewingRoomChannel

    @TheSewingRoomChannel

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hi Michelle. I recommend keeping the width of the table runner to no more than 10" to 12" wide. As far as the length, do this. Measure the length of your table and add the number of inches (times 2) that you want the runner to drop over the edge. Beaded fringe hangs better if the ends of the runner are square. A tassel works better on pointed ends. I hope I was able to help. Let me know how it turns out. Happy sewing.

    Hi there, How are you tonight? I’m doing a table runner 96 inches long and 19 inches wide. I’m using cotton batting. I do not want binding. I want 4 corners. I just don’t know how to put together, which is confusing me a whole lot. I did add the extra 1 inch batting. Just want to sew it and turn inside out.please tell me in which order it goes so I can sew this. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas

  • @TheSewingRoomChannel

    @TheSewingRoomChannel

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Bethzaida. Not a problem. Cut the fabric and cotton batting 19 1/2" x 96 1/2". Place the fabric for the top and bottom front sides together (pretty side). Place them on top of the cotton batting. Pin the edges - leave an area open on one side that will be used to turn the runner front side out. Stitch 1/4" seam on all 4 sides - do not stitch over the opening. Trim some of the fabric off at each corner. Turn the runner front sides out. Poke the corners out. At the opening, fold the edges inside 1/4" and pin closed. Place pins around the edges to keep them flat, and stitch about 1/8" from the edge on all 4 sides. Because you are using cotton batting. I recommend you do a very basic quilt stitch (top stitching) pattern. Do rows about 3" apart. This keeps the cotton batting together. Go to my home page for more table runner instructions: kzread.info Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

    @@TheSewingRoomChannel Sorry I didn't word that correctly, let me explain. I make table runners without anything in the middle because I'll have to charge more if I add anything else. Although, if there are benefits to having the "inside" material then I would change how I make them going forward adjusting the cost as well. PS I am 36 years old and a self taught seamstress that started making facemasks during the pandemic which launched my Etsy business. Can anyone give me their opinion? I have a rectangular table that usually seats 4-6 people. Do you let the table runner hang off the edge and place the placement on top of it, or do you make the table runner shorter so it doesn’t touch your placement? Does this sound weird?
