My grandma made me a frog like this when I was about 5. I still have him. He is made of green polyester stretch fabric and stuffed with bird seed. I like these quilted ones and will be making a few for friends kids. Thanks.

I had one too-no idea what happened to it, but a lady in my dad’s church made it. I remember it especially because I had horrible migraines and I would put it on that side of my head. It blocked light and the weight gave me some relief so I could sleep. You never know what kind of relief or comfort you are sharing with others through the things you make. The lady’s name was Nanny Moreland and while she must have passed away long ago, she left good memories.
we made these 60 years ago and stuffed with popcorn, great toys!
I remember these basic frogs from the 1970s, I think we made them in Camp Fire Girls. They weren’t quilted, but they were quite easy to make and everyone loved them! It makes my heart happy to see them again.
I bought this patter and have made about 10 of these and they have been a success. People (adults) love them. It was very entertaining making these.
I wish my sister loved to sew. I imagine its so fun to create with your sister! No one in my family or my friends share the same passion as I do, I just have to watch u guys.. lol..
I can't wait to buy this pattern. So cute! Great tutorial. Your very brave to sew over the pins. That made me shiver for a bit! Thanks!

I love this pattern ! ! ! I do have a question......Why do you use an extra piece of fabric under the batting? i have sewn fabric with only batting on the bottom and it sews fine.....is it an important step in this pattern? Thank you ahead for your response.....KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ! Eva

The bottom layer of fabric is so your frog looks finished from the underneath side. If you omit this step, you will notice you see more of the interfacing. Hope that makes since. Thanks for watching!

I used Mylar to make my templates. So my Part A top is also my Part B top. I just flip the template!
Does it have to be solid in the bottom as well? I don’t have any fat quarters, sovI was going to make bottom like I did top

Hi Alida! If you're concerned about the buttons coming loose, you can applique or embroider circles. Hope this helps!
Also, I want to get some of the pins you have that you can sew over ! Me and my sister designs

Hi maxi1049! The pins they're using can be found here: www.fatquartershop.com/collins-100-ct-2-in-flat-flower-pins-c155 Always be careful when sewing over pins though! We recommend taking them out if possible when sewing, or else you risk breaking your needle!
I made one of these in my sewing class in middle school
love this lil frog hes very cute great job .....but i was just wondering if you could use rice or beans in this lil guy ?

I've not used poly pellets before, is a single layer of fabric enough to keep them from breaking through on the back?
could it be used as a pin cushion?
Do you put a backing on the top piece when you’re going to sew a separate piece of material on the bottom? How about the two sided tape? I went to your website to look for the pattern and all it had was the downloadable pattern. How do I get the printable pattern?
Oh; one more question, how do you close the small hole on the frog?
Where can we get poly pellets?
I so wish there was a ready-made template for them, I have the shakes and it can be challenging to say the least
Once I purchase the pattern, am I able to sell any that I make?
👍🌹❤️👵🏻
I made my first frog and it looked fabulous until I used my pinking shears and destroyed the frog. Can you tell me the exact pinking shears you're using for this tutorial.

+Bruna Curtosi We are using the Fiskars 8 inch scissors found here: www.amazon.com/Fiskars-8-Inch-Pinking-Shears/dp/B000AXI856/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459175829&sr=8-1&keywords=fiskars+pinking
Did you hand stitch the closing
How do you cut the pattern out so nicely on the poster board? I tried and it is a mess.

Slow, long strokes with nice sharp scissors. It will never turn out perfectly but it works as a great guide for your frogs or any other pattern. Thanks for the question.

How u sew on the pins? U never brake the needle?
@FatQuarterShopTX
3 жыл бұрын
Hello Maria! Kimberly hasn't broken any needles by sewing over them.
It’s really cute but I don’t like the raw edges even if they are pinked. Made something similar in occupational therapy school as a beanbag but used camo and jeans material. Couldnt you sew it right sides together and turn it out?
do you have to quilt the frog and what about using dried beans instead of poly beads?
@FatQuarterShopTX
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Beverly, you do not have to quilt the frog, but the goal is to have the batting and fabrics "stick" together, so you can also try a fusible batting or just quilt around the frog and "stitch in the ditch" so you get fewer wrinkles and puckers once you're done. WHat you use for filling is completely up to you.

I asked the designers of Me & My Sister designs this question and this is what they said: "We receive hundreds of requests from worthy causes, quilt guilds, and individuals every year. So over the years we have been asked this question many times and have come up with a policy. Our policy for resale or for non-profit is 10 items or less. If you have a resale license number such as a Tax ID number we will need that. If this is for non-profit … we will also need a copy of that paperwork. If you are planning to make more than 10 items, we can have our attorney contact you with information on completing a manufacturing agreement Thanks! - meandmysisterdesigns@cox.net" Thanks for your question.

You shouldn't sew over pins, you can break a needle. Sharp things flying isn't a good thing. I've also heard you can break your sewing machine that way, but it's never happened to me, thank goodness because I love my machine. I have broken my fair share of needles by sewing over pins by accident though!
@mumblesandwool1243

usually you can sew over perpendicularly paced pins

I sewed over one by accident. Needle broke and flew up and hit the lens of my glasses. Very glad I wear glasses, would not want the needle embedded in my eye!! I'm more careful now.

I was taught to sew right over my pins and have been doing so for 36 years with no catastrophe. Yes, I have broken a few needles (very, very few) but the top part stays in the needle holder and the bottom part is still attached to the thread on the machine, not flying through the room at mock speed.

I don’t get why they sew 3 layers for the front then sew the back. Surely the front and batting for the front is enough, why add the backing? I’m a new sewer so there may be a very good reason for it, but when I make this I will not be making a 3 layer sandwich for the front.
@FatQuarterShopTX
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Samara, they did 3 layers together is so that it can be quilted and the quilting shows up better.
This frog pattern was popular in the 70's the copyright must have expired
Cute project but I winced when you sewed over your pins each time. Poor machine.
i did this today and i cried because i cant even do simple things like this .... i did make a frog but it looks like it lost to a car at frogger

Poly pellets is horrible for the environment and birds in particular
I don't care what people say you are helpful. Then the sister is gone from last step. I came here to see how to sew toys from fat quarters and wow I must say the lady in the red shirt doing most of the talking wasn't very nice to her sister on camera for everyone in the world to see. It's like she was so mean to her but in a nice voice way because they where being recorded.
