  • @zoolookfishing

    @zoolookfishing

    Thanks man...depends where I am fishing and what i am targeting, when targeting large sharks i will tie my leader directly to my braided leader...when i am scratching and constantly switching traces i will tie my braided leader to a strong lure clip and clip my ready made trace to that.

  • @zoolookfishing

    @zoolookfishing

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks...that sinker can only move up to the top swivel but only when the fish takes the bait and swims away from you..whilst waiting for the bite you hold tension hence the stopper on the bottom ⅓ of the trace. So it can never reach the leader...also when you cast you clip your bait to your sinker so it doesn't swing around and gets wrapped around the trace

    Hi Xander, loving your content. I recently bought an Assassin 12ft Saber Surf grinder rod and have gone a few times fishing out on the surf but I'm struggling to get the distance to get to the banks. Do you have any tips or advice to help me cast further. thanks

  • @zoolookfishing

    @zoolookfishing

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks...make sure your braid is thin enough and that you use the optimal weight for the rod...but saying that a 12ft can be a bit short when fishing in the surf and you need the distance...you would cast a lot further with a longer rod like a 14 or 15ft...12ft is nice for scratching in gullies and fishing short gutters and banks in the surf...ideally a 14 or 15ft would do best in the surf

    @@zoolookfishing Thanks for the information, I'll double check if everything is right and I'll work a bit more on my technique for casting. I thought a 14ft or 15ft rod would be right but I was just worried that it would be to difficult to cast. but anyways thanks for letting me know.

  • @zoolookfishing

    @zoolookfishing

    4 жыл бұрын

    I dont do a mono to braid connection, if i do its a fg knot or by swivel depending what I am doing. But my mainline/braid is connected to either a 180lbs or 220lbs braided leader with a fg knot that goes directly to the swivel of this trace. Of you want to see how i tie my fg knot, have a loom at my tackle Tuesday playlist there is a fg knot video on how I join 2 braided lines ,backing to topshot. That is exactly how I tie my mainline to my braided leader.

    hi ZLF, one question, when using this trace, while waiting for the bite, do you set the reel drag loose or tight or slightly tight?..

  • @zoolookfishing

    @zoolookfishing

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi, i usually hold the rod in my hand so the drag setting is fairly tight. Tight enough to set the hook and loose enough for the shark to pull drag if needed...when my rod is in the sand spike i will loosen up my drag so that the shark can pull line of the reel till i get to the rod and then tighten up the drag...hope it helps

    Hi, many different things, like bait size, specie i am targeting the area, like rocky or not. But mainly because of the bait size. But thats no biggy, if you keep it at like 60-70cm it will be a great all rounder...dont stress too much about it...use 60-70cm till you find what works best for you.
