How to make a spinning drum sander for drill press

To make this drill press drum sander I use a bearing that helps to keep the drum sander always straight. I also show how to rectify and how to true the drum sander to make a perfect cylinder. I also make a drill press table to fit the bearing and to sand the workpieces easily. A woodworking sander, like this drill press sanding attachment, is a woodworking machine that helps a lot when sanding wood in our woodworking shop. And the best part is that woodworking drum sanders are not very complicated to make,

Well done, thas was my 2nd video from you today, best educational coffee breaks in a long time. I never thought about the idea of ball bearings, as they help protecting the drill press chuck from too much pressure against it. Now I just have to source some bearings and make a couple of drum sanders. The very effective way to straighten up the drum with the wooden strip and sandpaper is another thing I will incorporate into my drum building. :)

Sergio Acuña Padin Great job friend, I am going to use this exact idea. Thank you, it meets my need perfectly.....fortunately I bought a pack of 10 bearings last year when my daughters scooter needed new ones, so I have eight spare, I will be able to make various grit drums as you suggested.

Good work, Sergio! I made one from palletwood, two years ago. The same way, but much more easier, without bearing and without glueing the paper. Only fixed with a little dowel in a hole. Works perfectly in an old Drillmachine. But bearings are absolutly neccesary in my new one to safe it from damages. Merry Christmas!

When using threaded rod for a project like this, I usually choose a bit one size smaller than the rod. Then you can screw the wooden discs onto the rod, which gives a little more secure hold than the epoxy alone. Well done.
