How to make a spinning drum sander for drill press
To make this drill press drum sander I use a bearing that helps to keep the drum sander always straight. I also show how to rectify and how to true the drum sander to make a perfect cylinder. I also make a drill press table to fit the bearing and to sand the workpieces easily. A woodworking sander, like this drill press sanding attachment, is a woodworking machine that helps a lot when sanding wood in our woodworking shop. And the best part is that woodworking drum sanders are not very complicated to make,

A very clear instruction. I will be making some of these and especially like the lower bearing design. Thank you for sharing 👍😎🇦🇺
Excellent video... and great sense of dry humour from time to time ... loved it ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Absolute genus and so easy .Thank you.
Another great video! I made something similar and used it on my lathe, it did what I wanted, a quick fix at the time.
Great project Sergio, thank you.
Great idea, and yes I'll be making one. Thank you for sharing with us.
Ive been going through your videos, and one thing is for certain. You are the king of jigs! Very informative, thanks for sharing with us
Well done, thas was my 2nd video from you today, best educational coffee breaks in a long time. I never thought about the idea of ball bearings, as they help protecting the drill press chuck from too much pressure against it. Now I just have to source some bearings and make a couple of drum sanders. The very effective way to straighten up the drum with the wooden strip and sandpaper is another thing I will incorporate into my drum building. :)
Thank you. Enjoyed your ingenuity and your humor. I am not as far along in my skills as you are.
I love the "precision carpentry" comment. Nice video. I've tried to do drum sanding on my press, and i found it not very effective - but your build with the bearing is much better than what i did.

Sergio Acuña Padin Great job friend, I am going to use this exact idea. Thank you, it meets my need perfectly.....fortunately I bought a pack of 10 bearings last year when my daughters scooter needed new ones, so I have eight spare, I will be able to make various grit drums as you suggested.

Sergio Acuña Padin also, have you thought of making different widths of the drums for different applications? Just a thought....

Thanks for the ideas Sergio, I like J Will's idea to add dust collection to the box.
Great set up ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a fantastic idea! I will definitely be making some of these thanks to you. Bravo!
Thank you for the video. I sprayed a layer of flexible rubber seal (flex seal) onto the surface of my discs that make up the body of the drum sander. It really improved the longevity of my drum. I need to use your ideas to upgrade my diy drum sander again and bring it to an even more functional level! Thank you again

It is quite interesting that of using a flexible rubber seal :)
Very good ideas here. Thanks for taking the time to explain everything and for the added humor.
Wow, that was way more than I was expecting. Really nicely done.
Ingenious and resourceful solution using material that is easy to find. Amazing!
Good work, Sergio! I made one from palletwood, two years ago. The same way, but much more easier, without bearing and without glueing the paper. Only fixed with a little dowel in a hole. Works perfectly in an old Drillmachine. But bearings are absolutly neccesary in my new one to safe it from damages. Merry Christmas!
Simply .... Brilliant ...........😛😛
Excellent. Thank you so much for your time and great ideas..... I was just about to purchase a spindle sander...... this helps a lot.
Nice done!
Why i like his videos? Cause he works with unexpensive or cheap tools and maschines like i do. And: It works also!

I like the idea. I have been thinking about making one like this but had not thought about the bottom bearing ... A brilliant idea.
This was very informative, thank you for sharing.
This is one of the best detailed videos I've ever seen thank you very much and have a great day and a merry Christmas
Parabéns, muito bem feito, bem útil. Vou fazer um desses.
wow nice! looks good! I just started my woodshop at home. now busy with setting up my workspace. Just finished my first videos and soon starting with furniture videos. Subscribed
Good ideas Sergio thanks for sharing
Very good build and very well explained. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas!
Sergio, very clever solution to any device requiring side pressure on the drill-press shaft... wire wheel, horizontal blade, etc.. I like your videos, perfect level of detail and well produced... subscribed!
Nice work, like the way you used the bearing, great idea. All the best.
A very nice project. It's not expensive and without the dust, it's perfect. Happy christmas!
Making a dust collector is a good idea, fine wood dust and pva makes great wood filler, it hides mistakes well!!lol!. Great work matey. All the best.
Another great idea!
Very nice, very good.
I made a similar drum sander a while ago, but the addition of the bearing is genius! Thanks for the tip and the video Sergio. PS> Nothing wrong with precision carpentry! lol
Thanks for showing & sharing that, very good
Great design and using tools lots of people can afford. Good job.
You do a great job explaining each step and I do like the tapping the bolts down also but next time you have to tap the opposite direction, screw a nut on until bolt is flush with bolt end. This will allow safe strike on bolt without endangering the bolt threads.
Excellent work !
I didn't notice any problems with the lighting or focus. The picture was plenty clear to me. Thanks for the great idea!
Sergio ,as usual brilliant creations by you ( money savers:-) ) thank you:-) I love your tutorials and God bless you for sharing your creative talent with the world - muchos gracias amigo & Merry Christmas.
The precision carpentry joke made me like and subscribe. Great diy sander
Excellent. Thank you.

Buenísimo video. Mi próximo proyecto.
Well, the final sanding on that curved piece is really high precision carpentry to me! Cheers!!!
Merci pour cette présentation et cette bonne idée
You are the best. I liked your funny comment. Thanks for sharing your talents.
Beautiful job, well done!
Perfect. Thanks a lot. I'm getting the self locking nuts, the washers and the bearing today. I have the plywood, threaded rod, glues, sandpapers and of course the drill press.
Beautiful!
Bravo, génial, continuer comme ça
👍Echt klasse Gemacht Daumen hoch 👏👀😁😎
Thank you for a most EXCELLENT and informative video! The video showed everything so clearly and your explanation was very detailed and understandable. I am certainly going to make a couple of these. I'm so glad I found this video and I'll be checking out your others.

Excellent idea, very nice video! Thank you!👍
Excellent video! Clear instructions and very good result. I like that you kept in the small mistakes so that people don't make the same mistakes if copying the design. I've subscribed to your channel. Thanks from London England 👍😎🏴🙏
AWESOME! EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. THANK YOU VERMY MUCH !!!
Óptima ideia, boa apresentação, obrigado
Awesome job...
Precision carpentry!! I have a similar, cheap drill press. You can change the belts to make it run slower; it will work better with the hole saw in that way.
Nice job, good idea, i go make the same. Thanks.
Good video and easy to follow, better than the one I made, excellent!
When using threaded rod for a project like this, I usually choose a bit one size smaller than the rod. Then you can screw the wooden discs onto the rod, which gives a little more secure hold than the epoxy alone. Well done.

This is awesome, thanks for making the video!
Really great ideas in this design and build, gonna make some for my new (old) press!!
This sander had support and the plate was not large. So! It work well for you. Good job.
einfach Spitze, deine Arbeit und dein Video
I have followed your channel for a couple of years, but just found this today. I love it, but I didn't have hole saws. I just ordered a set to make your drum sander! I have two 1/4" (6mm) ID bearings, and I agree with @ShiftySquirrel, the bearing is genius!
Good video, and Workman, a nice practice idea, thanks for sharing, definitely subbed
Simple is always best...thanks for sharing the knowledge....well done you , and thank you, keep up the good work. Just subscribed.
Hi, especially like the sandpaper gluing "system" Realy easy to use next, when current goes useless :)
Well done !
Great video. Entertaining as well as informative. I will definitely be trying this. I only have a very small workshop so multitasking on the same tool is great for me! More ideas please!

I love it . Good mind ..👍👍👍👍👍
Great video. Thanks.
Nice work.
Sergio when cutting threaded rod leave 1 or 2 nuts on either side of your cut. Easy way to clean up the threads. Always enjoy your video's.
