I have here a chair which has seen better days, so I’m going to make a slipcover for it. You can use many different fabrics like denim, twill, canvas, or home décor fabric. The techniques in this tutorial can be adapted to many other styles of chairs and couches. Whether you’re covering ugly or stained upholstery or want to protect nice upholstery, making your own slipcovers is inexpensive and practical.

What if you don’t want piping?

@@infinitylongtermcareconsul3044 You don't need it! It's the same process, just skip it :)
I'm currently slipcovering a wingback chair. Slipcovering is so much harder than this video makes it seem...at least for me anyway. I've started many slipcovers in the last year but always get frustrated and quit for a while. Then I'll start again on another furniture piece. Ugh! I have gotten a lot better in the past year, but the corners where piping meets and inside seams get me every time!! But I'm not quitting this time. This time, I am going to go all the way no matter how imperfect it is. I can't believe you did this in one setting! You're awesome!!

P.s. If you have no experience, you can use dropcloths till you feel comfortable, and then order good fabric so you don't waste so much money and good fabric...that's what I've been doing :) I'm using 12 oz bull denim now.

Thanks Charlotte! I’ll let you in on a secret, this was definitely not done in one sitting (the magic of editing) and there was plenty of ripping out of stitches involved! It’s not easy and it does take a lot of trial and error to get it right and mine’s definitely not perfect either. I like your persistence and hope you stick with it! (Good idea about practicing with a drop cloth!)

Great tutorial!!! But can you please just do it for me?!?! 😫😫😫😫😫
I slipcovered my couch but I did it all on the right side of the fabric and it came out fine. I hate pins and don't want to risk my mom steeping on one of them so what I cannot stitch freely I bind first.
Loved watching this, but I'm still way too chicken to try it!

this is great because I need to cover my own furniture. Wish there were a waterproof fabric to use that was strong and flexible enough to take the punishment of being sat on.

Sunbrella fabric is an indoor/outdoor fabric that would work very well for slipcovers. It isn't 100% waterproof but it's water resistant and very durable. www.onlinefabricstore.net/sunbrella-fabric.aspx
Couldnt do it , thank you though !
How do I figure out how much fabric to buy? I assume I will need extra for mess ups.

Pretty good, but you speak a bit too fast and some speech of your diction is not as clear as it could be. why the background music? It does not help and is only distracting and annoying.
Sorry, I meant your diction is not as clear as it could be.
I doubt there are many 'GUYS' watching. Please, find a grownup word to address your audience.

I'm sorry you are bothered by it. Perhaps her subculture, like mine, uses the term "guys" to mean "everybody" whether male, female, or nonbinary. It's not considered the least bit childish. Are you sure that it's an offensive usage that needs to be retired rather than a regional variation that like saying "aunt" differently than "ant?" I've been told the way I say "aunt" is snooty, giving myself airs, which is plain silly considering it's used by small farmers, electricians, factory workers, and home health aides every bit as much as any professor or lawyer where I grew up.
