How to Make a Simple Single Sink Bathroom Vanity (The Top)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I decided I needed to build a single sink vanity in my bathroom....well the broken vanity made me decide. This is the first video in a series of videos where I build that vanity. In this video I build the top of the vanity and add a finish.

I done a similar vanity top 2yrs ago for a customer out of cherry it turned out very well I used a commercial Valdpar stain and 4 coats of clear epoxy on the top and 2 coats on the bottom. I mirror imaged my seams and biscuits. My biggest issue was getting the top flush and smooth my old planer quit mid way through luckily my dad has a 42" drum sander in his shop it took a little longer but top came out looking good . I'm a 3rd plus generation cabinet and furniture carpenter and had to laugh when you you said yes that the biscuit joiner was harbor freight I have a few harbor freight tools that work just as well as my milwaukee bosh or older porter - cable tools. I bought a Hercules 12" compound slide miter and it cuts better than my dad's Dewalt. Good tools help but a good tradesmen can make regular home owner stuff work and at less cost

I started off with nothing but HF tools. As I made and sold items I took all the profit and put it into buying tools. I still have many HF items. The biscut jointer, palm router, plunge router, circular saw. and many others. I also have bunch of tools from my dads workshop. They don't make tools like they used too for sure.

I like the top too! The finish looks good! I’m gonna be doing the downstairs guest bath after I finish the T&G on the Master Bedroom ceiling, so I’m watching your re-do with lots of interest! Thanks Ken!

Bad part is, now I'm gonna redo the whole bathroom except the tub. Makes me sad that I have to do it. I just don't have the time. Oh well, I guess I'll have to make time. :) Ken

I’ve been looking at building a new vanity for my bathroom. This was the first video that came up when I searched! I did watch the video on the base first but now I’ve got a great idea on what I need to do. Thanks, Moonman!

imperthean, I would love to tell you, but to tell the truth something came up and I still haven't installed this. I have used this finish on a few other items since then and I can say I am not a fan. Doesn't coat thick enough and it left brush marks. Seems to hold up ok though. Ken
