How to Make a Self-Binding Sherpa Fleece Blanket

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

• PRE-WASH and DRY the cotton fabric before cutting. Do not pre-wash the Sherpa Fleece •
- Purchase SHERPA Fleece in most fabric shops and online:
amzn.to/2EOd07w
I love this blanket because it's SO soft, it's easy to make, and looks totally high-end and professional when you're done. It's the best! Backed with very soft sherpa fleece, the fleece folds over to bind the edges of the blanket--which is a great technique for any blanket or quilt. I'll show you some tricks for getting perfect mitered corners as well. You're going to fall in love with this blanket. We already have!
-------------------------------------------------------
BLANKET DIMENSIONS:
DOLL SIZE
Top Fabric - 22" x 25"
Back Fabric (Sherpa Fleece) - 28" x 31"
TODDLER/LAP BLANKET SIZE
Top Fabric - 38" x 52"
Back Fabric (Sherpa Fleece) - 44" x 58"
THROW BLANKET SIZE
Top Fabric - 53" x 63"
Note: because most quilting cotton is only 42 inches wide, you will need to piece (sew together) two large pieces of fabric together to get a full size TOP fabric.
Back Fabric (Sherpa Fleece) - 59" x 69"
Note: sherpa fleece is typically 60 inches wide, so you will only need one large piece of fleece for the back.
ANY SIZE:
Top Fabric -Desired finished dimensions
Back Fabric (Sherpa Fleece) - add 6 inches to both dimensions

I absolutely love that you don’t use any super fancy or hard methods. As a beginner I don’t have a lot of the fancy bells & whistles(such as the walking foot) so its so nice that you are using basic sewing products that beginners usually start off with!!❤️

Anyone making a larger blanket, do yourself a big favor and wear rubber gloves, or maybe gardening gloves with rubber dots, when sewing this! It'll grip your fabric really well and your hands won't get so tired.

I love this “self-binding” quilt! And video! I’ve never liked giving a blanket without quilting the inside down. I was given one for my son and laying him down on it (yes, we used to lie babies on their tummies sometimes back then, and when I went to check on him he was all tangled up in the blanket which had separated and he was struggling to breath, arms flailing, and very red in the face. Needless to say I panicked and was so grateful I sensed an urgency to go check on him! This happens especially when the baby can turn over onto their tummies. Great tutorial! Thank you.

Love this one Dana. Gotta make a baby shower gift and I’m making one of these with both sides flannel fabric. I used to watch you sew many moons ago and I loved your thread cutter. When I started searching for a new machine a few years ago, it had to have the auto cutter no exception. I ended up with a Brother and it does have auto cut and I love it. I’m so grateful to you for showing this feature in all your videos. I do love that cutter!!! I would love to have a baby lock but they are out of my price range. I’ve learned that Baby Lock & Brother are owned by the same company. Maybe someday I can get a Baby Lock but I’m really happy with my Brother. It’s a great machine. Happy Day to you! 💕☀️🧵 PS - I’ve watched several videos on making self binding baby blankets and I just want you to know that yours is the best and easiest to understand as well. You are the best teacher. I watched you for my first tutorial many many many years ago and I’m still watching you. You are simply the best! 💕🥇🏆

Thank you Miss Dana for posting this video! I had planned on making a blanket for my daughter while I was still pregnant, she's three months now, and I still haven't gotten around to it. I think I can get it done now though, thanks to this video. And I love the Ferris Bueller ending 😁
