How to make a Ruched Side Slit Skirt and a Crop Top | Two Piece Set out of Jersey no serger

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Here's how to create your own rouched side slit skirt and a matching square neck crop top.. I got this jersey fabric on sale and I loved the print for summer so I decided to make a two piece set (the no serger method). No pattern needed. You cand also turn this design into a bodycon dress. I hope you enjoy this sewing tutorial. I can't wait to see your designs!

Using a walking foot is a better solution in my opinion but I guess everyone has a preference. I like the model but lining it makes it a bit bulky... I know some knit fabric is impossible to work with without a serger, so choose a bit more stable one, slightly thicker and less stretchy. Try the walking foot, using a stabilizer, a tissue paper, a tape or a basting stitch. Also, it's not a good idea to use a straight stitch across a stretchy seam since it will break the thread if you try to stretch it when putting on or taking off. Sorry if this sounds overly critical but when I first started sewing I followed some 'tutorials' on youtube that gave some bad advice and ruined some fabric so I'd like others to not do the same mistakes.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll try the walking foot 😊 I mainly use zigzag stitches with stretchy fabrics. I think I’ll need to invest in a serger soon though
