How To Make A REAL Door From Plywood

Watch how I install this door:
• How To Install A Door ...
I have seven of these to make for the main floor of my house. While money can be saved by making these yourself, there is a lot of work involved, so you should consider that before taking it on. My reasons for doing this are mainly because I'll end up with doors that are much better quality than the typical hollow core doors you get from the retailers. Also, I have the freedom to make them exactly how I want, as plain or as fancy as needed to match the decor.

As videos go this on sits at the top: no BS, no fluff, no waste of time with stupid sxxt intros, it's right down to the matter, which is what viewers spending lots of time in youtube looking for info on fixing their cars or making a door... are looking for. It's not rocket science but it is not a common practice either. Secondly, this straightforward tutorial gave me an idea I didn't have to skip the pricey manufactured MDF interior doors in the style that I love, Shaker. Thank you!
After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans kzread.infoUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!

Really wish I'd seen this design before I made a set of doors for my workshop. The edge banding/finishing was a nice touch. Thanks for sharing.
John, you are doing what you do so well that I'm always happy to see a new posting! Including your video skills and quality of picture and sound.
I really like the lumber inserts to finish the edges of the door. I am going to try this soon, Thanks!
Pretty nice John...looks like an easy, low cost way to get good quality and customize to your needs. Thanks for sharing.
Made it last year and it still looks and works great. Thanks for the video
Thanks for the help, I've been needing to replace a door on my garage, but it's an odd size. This design should work great.
I like the way you explain, and show how you do things so well.
Always like to watch you work John, and a nice job at that!
I love your videos, you do some amazing work and love how you explain everything.
Vary informative, thank you for showing us how easy it can be to make a door 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS VIDEO!!!! thank you for sharing a bare bones, but easy to follow video!
Love it! Why didn't I think of building a door that way? Built quite a few. People don't realize just how labor intensive a simple door is. Near genius!
Thanks for your time with your wood working. I have watched lots of videos but you keep it simple and that's what I like about you keep up the good work.

Thanks for the video. I have been trying to figure out how to make a door with plywood. You have given my answer.
This was very handy. I will definitely be adding a few of these to my to do list and just at the right time. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you this is what I was looking for in making a plywood door for my wardrobes. Without using a Pocket Hole Jig as I don't have one. Plus, I always wanted to know how to make a door the old fashion way.
I remembered this vid from a year ago or so and came back to it. This will stay relevant for indefinetly particularly as the prices of door keeps going up to the moon and yet one can make it easily with ply thanks to this excellent video. Thanks a lot!
What an awesome video John. Great watching you make something that is used and we see so many times a day but can also be so expensive, yet realizing it is a very straight forward process, with endless possibilities of customization!
Man, that's a beautiful door. Great work.
your creativity and skill shine again sir. your vids are always great, thanks again!
Thanks for the info John! Awesome job!👍👊
I love your video's. I've learned a lot watching you make the door.
Never seen someone building a door. Fascinating!
I just love all your builds.
Thanks for the video! I am getting ready to attempt making about 10 interior doors myself. Ill probably do a video and stick it up on my channel in a week or two when I get around to them.
That door looks so adoorable!
The door looks very nice! Thanks.
This is absolutely great! thanks for the awesome vid!
Brilliant video mate. Love the detailed stuff
Hey John thanks so much for this video! I just completed mine and it turned out just as you built it. The only thing I did differently was to use Birch plywood to the customer's request. It was so easy to construct just as you showed in your video
Really nice, a solid no-nonsense build, thanks John.
Thanks for the great video John. 👍 You are an amazing creator.
Just a great video. Good door design and well explained. Thank you
Nice build, liked the scarf joint, and interior trim on the door. Thanks for the sizing video on the other channel.
wow. GREAT video! Thanks for this!
Beautiful door. Thanks for the demonstration and concise explanation! It will be easy to take these techniques and adapt them to different styles of doors. Love your shirt, BTW! 😆
Wow! That is clever! We have several plain, hollow core doors that need to go. I may give it a shot.
Great timing, I've been wondering what to do about doors on my daughters art studio, didn't like any at the Lowe's or Menard's. Thanks for the inspiration and how to..
I'm amazed with what you make out of plywood
You sir are a true craftsman! That door looks fabulous! That door if far better than any of those hollow POS doors they sell at the hardware stores.
I read that you made all the door's for your home and it took some time and energy but their not crappy door's. Their Beautiful door's you should be proud to say, I made these door's. I wish I had half the talent that you have in wood working. I have a little bit and can do some of what you are doing but not all , so my hats off to you good Sir. Thank you for sharing your Knowledge with us.
Great video . This is very helpful for those people who may need to make a custom sized door .🤗

Awesome video - great to see someone from the GWN still using freedom units (imperial)!!!
I love this.. I bought an old home (built in the 1930s) that has seen some renovations that left me with a bunch of awful cardboard torsion box style interior doors, until I saw this I had resigned myself to either paying out the nose for solid wood doors new, or to spending every free moment out trying to source appropriately sized antique doors... After watching this two weeks back I am already three of five doors in, and my technique has improved with each one. Thanks!

@Don Perkins The first one did, because I didnt have a truly flat assembly area. However, you know what makes a perfectly flat assembly area for doors? Two of the crappy doors I was replacing, put one on the sawhorses and glued the other one to it, head to foot, every door after that has come out perfect.
John, do you have more videos planned for this channel in the near future? Really enjoying your knowledgeable and sometimes out-of-the-box approaches. I also find that this channel always has stuff that's easy to relate to since everyone's familiar with houses.
Great Video! Think I may try this on some large cabinet/storage closets.
Nicely done! Thank you 👍
Love your videos. So ingenious how you use plywood.
I really liked how you did the edges of the door. Some people just leave that out or just don't finish it. Great work!
