I made a ramp very similar to Lenny`s, but I used folding ladders. I cut them to required length leaving the hinge intact. Then I fitted the two wooden boards, now I can fold it saving some space. I use mine for my mobility scooter, attach the ramp to my vehicle with two detachable hinges, and now I can take my scooter anywhere.

I guess New York has hillbillies also... Next time use a couple 2x4s under your 3/4 ply for support, much less effort (no grinding required) and actually cheaper than wasting a ladder. In all seriousness a great effort and show of resolve. Thanks for the video.

Good project. I guess you could attach two fold up legs in the middle of the ladder that reaches the ground, which would take twice the current weight. (from say 2 - 400lb. Could then take a quarter ton bike and rider.

Great idea, but with all the scrappers out there it'll be hard to find a half a ladder. I'm also cheap so buying one doesn't work.

wondering if this idea would work for a 3 to 4 foot ramp for my side sliding door on my chevy mini van I have been using 2 different size step stools and it is taxing my knees my hips and back getting in, and getting out is the worst. I can easy store the ramp on top of my bed or on the wall side bed when not in use Thoughts anyone!

What screws did you use on ratchet strap and on the ladder, and how did you screw it through the ladder?
@TheRiplb

Self-tapping screws the length depends on the thickness of your plywood

A ladder might stop the bow, but now your ramp is a lot more heavy and takes up a lot more thickness when it comes to trying to store it and take it with you in the van. And you can’t fold it or collapse it to make it more portable.
