How to Make a Rag Doll For Beginners || Simple Waldorf Doll Without Sewing
A beautiful rag doll for beginners, a simple waldorf style doll with no sewing and no woollen stuffing.
A classic rag doll uses no stitching and is worked with knots or simply tying of thread. Traditional Russian rag dolls were folk toys that were also considered to be home protectors, thus were a thoughtful housewarming gift. This style easily blends into the Waldorf style of dolls where there are minimal or no features on the face of the dolls allowing room for a child to imagine his / her own expression or emotion. There's a lot that is conveyed through the gesture of these dolls and children sense it better than most adults do :)
Made from fabric scraps and rags, these make an excellent gift and craft choice for those who practice zero waste living. It is the most therapeutic style of doll making :)
This tutorial comes to you from Little Hive Crafts where we're passionate about crafting consciously, which means giving you the best and leaving the least waste around. This is a Slavic doll. We cal it Motanka. "Motati" means "to wrap". The whole doll is made without sewing, only wrapping, and it has spiritual meaning. There are lots of tipes of dolls, for different blessings. Today, you can see it in slavic countries like Russia, Ukraine, Serbia.... This one is called Zvono (Bell). How did you learn to make it? Do you also have Slavic origin?
I'm making one for my daughter but wondering how to keep the fabric from fraying when she plays with it.
@LittleHiveCrafts
2 ай бұрын
It does fray over time. Stiff cotton would be able to hold its shape better.
what are the dimensions for the scarf piece for the rag doll? Thanks
@LittleHiveCrafts

Hi, it is mentioned in the video
This doll has the name Bell. This doll is Slavic. The doll is a collector and Keeper of good news for the home. The doll must have a Bell
