If you wanna make a savory pie crust, don't leave out the sugar! It doesn't just give sweetness, it also provides a nice tender texture and a lovely golden color
This is perfect timing. Thank you Gemma! The camera angle on the crimping was super helpful. It’s always exciting to see an alert about a new video from your channel. ☺️

Hi Susan. It’s best to blind bake when you’re using a filling that is very wet, to avoid a soggy bottom. Hope this helps.

Where can we get the ingredients with exact measurements I mean where the owner allows us to split the products based on our needs for the flour, butter, egg, sugar and salt. How is it measured for cost on the store owner's end? Sorry if I ask too much. That video rings a ton of bells in my head.
@biggerbolderbaking
Жыл бұрын
Hi. The cost is broken down based on measurements. Unfortunately, one can’t buy ingredients in very small amounts. But the good thing is, most of the ingredients can be stored to last a long time. So one can use them over time. Hope this helps.
In mexico, butter cost 12 dollars a pound. milk 8 dollars a gallon, I wish we good afford to make your recipe

@@biggerbolderbaking our federal min, wage is only 8 dollars a day, these are foods we can only dream about.
Price adjusted for 2024= 2 billion
I'm absolutely for people making crusts for themselves, please do, the making of things is unarguably good for you; but if the absolute primary driving factor between making your own crust and buying one, is the unit cost, having access to 3c worth of powdered sugar, isn't exactly usual. You'd need to buy a packet of it, which is almost certainly more than $2. Yes you can use normal sugar that you might already have, but that's the problem with the bulk of these "$X" recipes, you can't parcel out the proportions like that. People probably have flour, and eggs and sugar, and that's all absolutely A-ok, but it's a bit disingenuous to be banging on about it totaling a particular amount.
Again, got spam posing as you and reported it immediately!🙏❤️

Plus, store-bought pie crusts and/or pastries aren't a thing in countries that traditionally didn't rely on wheat as a staple. I live in Korea and I can't buy frozen pastry unless I go to Costco or a baking shop. Fifteen sheets of 10cm×10cm puff pastry cost at least $7 USD. I can buy eight 5cm-wide shortcrust mini tart shells for $3.5 but no luck with big pie crusts. 200g of Bridel butter (approx. 5/6 of a metric cup) costs slightly more than $4, and if I purchase butter that was produced locally, it's even more expensive due to the labor costs. If I struggle with finding certain baking products in the heart of my country's capital, imagine how harder it will be in other regions, and other countries 🤷♀️
Not telling me how much of each ingredient to add
