The feminine urge to spontaneously make a patchwork babydoll summer sundress in one day -- How to make a bandana/quilt-inspired dress! Using, in this case, entirely thrifted/secondhand fabric. Honestly quite easy and simple:)
I’m really loving the patchwork/quilt trend in clothing and fashion lately. It’s so cozy and charming, and, most importantly, it’s ~meant~ to be DIYed!
I’ve already worn this dress and I’m absolutely in love; I highly recommend making something like it yourself:) I feel like a cool indie girl but also like a cottagecore doll… my two favorite aesthetics! Plus, I have so many styling ideas already….👀

I made one of these dresses for myself for Mother's day. I didn't have to tweak it a bit but I ended up making my dress with 8 (6 inch blocks) for the bust and 3 sets of 11 inch blocks for the rest of the dress. When gathering my fabric it was not difficult at all. Please remember when making garments, overlock and/or zigzag stitch the edges of your fabric so it doesn't fray. Also, use lightweight interfacing for your straps, this gives them structure so the don't mess up when washing. ❤ Best of luck fellow sewers
I have been sewing for 30+ years and you did an amazing job even without a pattern! Bravo!
Perfect description of who I am and who I'm looking to explain to me😎👍🏽
This would be a super fun project to do at a sewing bee. Everyone could bring their fabric and swap around...Also one-day makes are always appreciated. Thank you for this.
I may or may not have spent the entire day watching all of your videos and then subsequently stalking all your style inspo pics from your pinterest... I swear you're my style soulmate, I'm so glad I found you!! I have been SO inspired by all your outfit vids and I love this dress too, will definitely try when I finally attempt sewing again!
I have rolls of fabric from my granny... she reupholstered furniture and made quilts... so i have 70s 80s and 90s fabric 🎉😊 the best kinds❤

Lucky you! You could make a beautiful vintage day robe, banyan style. I've been waiting to find some nice fabric on clearance to make one with.
"Maybe...go to bed... just an idea..." - Yeah. I like you. Subscribed!
Super cute and easy. Def going to make one, or three. 😊
Really love this diy. Great way to repurpose old clothes that don’t fit anymore ❤️

The dress looks awesome. Well done ❤ I definitely want to try something like this.
You explain it like a queen👸
Ooooh. I've been thrifting and collecting vintage Lilly Pulitzer clothes, and this would be a perfect way to use the fabric!

@@beepwrld before I made some big lifestyle changes, I was morbidly obese and couldn't fit into ANY of the clothes. So. I would buy scarves or jewelry pieces. Then I slowly started collecting other pieces, regardless of the size, and saving them for projects. Last night I was going through my stash, and shocked myself. I'll definitely keep you posted. I'm currently in the middle of reworking some pieces to wear on a cruise next month, and I'm having fun! It's like the song, The First Cut is the Deepest...the first cut is the scariest!
For easier gathering sew 2 rows ...gives much better gathers.
I have a bunch of my boyfriend's old button up shirts that are too far gone that I cut the seams off. If only they were in colors that I liked
I am so going to make this dress I love it Brilliant !!!!!
this is so cute! i bought a bundle of fabric with hand stitched quilt squares and I wasnt sure what to do with it until now.
girl bless your soul for making this video!! i'm gonna try this method out using flannel baby blankets from the dollar store lmao
I love your cat's moustache!! So cute. Love this dress. Can it be made without a serger? I like to quilt and would love to see you make a quilt.I bet it would be unique and beautiful. Job well done

I love it too!!! & thank you! Yes, I don't have a serger and mine is still holding up! I'm sure it would be better with lining which I'd like to add at some point, but so far no issue with it falling apart or anything:)
Im embarking on making a baby doll style dress and i cant find a video of exactly how I am envisining it so im going around to many different videos to try and learn and then begin (trying to read articles was just not working bc I dont understand many sewing terms/im more visual) the first two videos i watched did not explain how to scrunch the fabric in terms i understood and i was SO CONFUSED!! Tysm tho bc now i know how 🎉❤
Good Job! I try to sew pacthwork dress too.. Thanks for the idea.❤️

Would bandanas work for this dress? I have motorcycle bandannas from motorcycle rallies and touring various states. Most have pictures and the town & state on them….New to sewing.
