HOW TO MAKE A MULTIPLE STAR KNOB JIG | A MUCH EASIER PROCESS
I already have a star knob jig for making 3 beam star knobs. So I wanted to have a jig to make 4 beam, 5 beam and 9 beam star knobs and I wanted one jig for all of them. I managed to make a all in one jig. I built it so it can be used with forstner drill bit's instead of hole saw's. The kind of hole saw's I own, are always very bulky and leave not enough room to make such a jig. Because I made this jig for forster bit's, it was possible to make such a multiple star knob jig. Moreover, the surfaces of the arched notches are much smoother than the ones that were made with the hole saw.

nice to see some plans for this so people know where to position all the holes.
Yes, found that much easier to understand. Wouldn’t have attempted MK1, but will definitely try MK2. Thanks for revisiting.
Thanks for the demo. Think I'll give it a try.
So simple as performant! Thank you for sharing!

New sub here; love this jig - I have so many ideas! I especially appreciate your “I Simply Griprrrrrrrrrr!”
Exxcellent video. It's on my "Make This" list. Thank you.
This is, indeed, more versatile than the previous jig! Only thing I would make differently is the notching - use a smaller diameter forstner bit with deeper penetration into the knob (same arc segment, smaller radius).

i made your jig with minor 2 changes. i only wanted 5 beam knobs so 2 less holes. i noticed how you fought to turn the piece, SO since my knobs are made from 3/4 ply i made the guide from 1/2 ply, much easier that way.

Really nice.

Hello very interesting your project, congratulations! One question, I didn't notice you making the 3-beam knob, I know your description says it's all in one, is it possible to make the 3-beam knob? Please, have you already made a drawing of this project? Thanks
Brilliant

still waiting to see if you answer any of your comments such as the one I and several other followers have asked concerning plans for this jig. I would gladly donate a nominal fee for the plans. Your videos are so informative and plans for them could be a real money spinner for you, as long as they were reasonably priced.....just a thought
This looks interesting as I do need to make four for my project. Hopefully it’s simple to make with basic tools.
@ISIMPLYBUILTIT

Thanks. You don't need special tools. Just a drill press and forstner bits
I don't think regular star pens are worthy of such a high-tech and time-consuming manufacturing process. The job is good, but unnecessarily complicated.
Good job. I bet the future project is your lathe. 🤔
What are the angles used to create the holes?
I don’t understand what this is for but I’m very intrigued

These knobs are typically used on hand made jigs that require some kind of adjustment.

Wie immer ein klasse Jig! Die beiden Durchmesser und die Winkel des Aufriss bei 1:15 zu kennen würde dem Nachbaut extrem erleichtern. Könntest du die bitte nennen?
@ISIMPLYBUILTIT
4 жыл бұрын
Danke. Die grossen Durchmesser sind 40mm die kleinen 20mm. Die Winkel ergeben sich durch die Anzahl Strahlen. 360°: Anzahl Strahlen die Du machen möchtest.

A full circle is 360 deg, so the math is real simple. 360/4, 360/5 and 360/9. Draw the axis, with the 0 being the center. Then mark the angles.
17:05 OK, instead of making adapters for larger holes, wouldn't it be easier to use a standard hole until knob is finished, THEN make a larger center hole? Nice jig.
Do jou have a trading, with measures?

I see that people have been asking for plans, or even a simple list of the angles and size of the original circle, for 3 years. It's a shame that this entire video is a waste of time because the author cannot take 10 minutes in 3 years to give this to people requesting help. Comments like, "First, I cut two boards to the proper size" without telling us the "proper size" is just disappointing. How much more breath would it have taken to just give the two measurements?
It's not "axle" - it's "spindle".
@ISIMPLYBUILTIT
4 жыл бұрын
Technically it's a axle. An axle does not spin and does not transmit torque. A spindle does rotate and converts rotary motion into a longitudinal movement.
@mfs5493
4 жыл бұрын
@@ISIMPLYBUILTIT Weird definition. Where did you get the "converts rotary motion, etc." from? I think you are mixing this up with "shaft" as with "crankshaft". Axles can certainly spin as on kiddies' toy cars and these are definitely not spindles or shafts. And, a spindle need NOT rotate - it can be attached to a plate for mounting on a machine and can carry a free-running gear or pulley, for example.
If it’s not intended to be imitated, what’s the point. Your videos are excellent accept for the fact they have no dimensions etc. maybe you should have more confidence in your abilities. You have already stated that you are not responsible for other people’s problems.
