I have seen every handbuilding a mug video ever made, I swear! Lol. And I’ve never seen anyone do this to the bottom of the mug!! Can’t wait to try it!! The bottom would also make for an extra little drip catcher if the glaze goes near the bottom!!

Exactly!! I love it because it’s a little unexpected 😊
Ben, you're a really good teacher. You're knowledgeable and entertaining without being over the top. Keep up the good work. You're fun to watch and learn from.
You are extremely likable and funny! I enjoyed and learned a lot watching this. Thank you. I just got my first wheel and I’m SO pumped about it!!
Your teaching style is very accessible for nubies. I think that's wonderful. Hopefully some more folks will get into ceramics.

Hahaha bless you
This is a great vid. No one would ever know it was your first if you didn't tell them. You wouldn't even have to say you had to start over with the mug. With cooking shows they shoot two of the same ones and then edit. I like this method it is great for those of us that don't have a Wheel. Of course we'd still need a kiln. Which I'd kiln for....lol...😁

Hahaha I guess you’re right! Though I like showing all the mistakes in the process I feel like it can make my videos more authentic and accessible - that’s the hope at least!!

@@benjamin.cahoon At this point it's no longer your first video, so that's finished. 😁 Yes, authenticity is very important. I'm able to read people & practically nothing gets past me. I know how real and authentic you always try to be & how very important it is to you in every part of your life. Authenticity is felt by others even if they don't know what/why. (So is it's opposite.) It happens on the subconscious level. Ok, the next part ... Why are you on social media... as a clay thrower?

@Benjamin Cahoon - I wanted to finish what I was saying previously... The why are you on Social Media? I'm guessing it is to teach folks how to do beginning ceramics & have it be fun. Am I right? Please think about this: Yes, authenticity is important. Your style, so far, is to be a bit loose, funny, 'out' in a real & expressive way, & at the same time giving some instruction. Nothing in that says you have to show mistakes. Your realness is evident. If you want save some 'mistakes' for a blooper vid to be shown at a later date. I feel it is important to last on Social Media, you will need to establish your credibility as an ' 'authority' by passing along the how's & why's of different aspects of ceramics...in a lighthearted way. Do you understand? Think about the folks that taught you in college - it was clear they knew their 'slip', Right? Would you have stuck around if it wasn't clear that they did? I know this sounds really heavy. From what you've said you'd like folks to forget the tic tock stuff. People will move on when you do. I'm going to have to use the 'M' word...mature. I'M NOT SAYING stodgy conservative. Oh heavens no. People will find your teaching accessible when you take the time to explain what and why you are doing things from a place of humility. So lightheartedness and fun is absolutely appropriate, because that's part of who you are. But you are not one dimensional. There's a LOT more than that... Right? Yes. Let this sit with you for a while. Marinate in it and then see how you feel about what I said. Do you resonate with any of it? These are just my thoughts and my ideas...but I think they're pretty good. 😉
I hope I‘ll be like you one day!
