Made this sans topping, because vanilla bean ice cream is always good. Holy cow, this is way richer than I expected! That stick-plus of butter is really doing its part. Everyone who had it agreed it should stay in the regular rotation. Thanks!
Here's a Canadian country girl stuck for now in Holland..a country with boring pastry..LOVE this recipe...and the folks LOVE my cooking and baking.Good job gal! Thanks a million! Tot ziens!
Made your recipe. It was very good. The contribution of lemon zest and topping cannot be described. Will become a common dessert. Plan to try the strawberry cheesecake bars.
Oh, swoon! Malted milk powder was my child hood favorite drink. This looks great! So well guided the steps to get this lovely dish off the launching pad. THANKS!
I just love her 🤗🤗🤗

Made it this morning, the batter made for a very tender cake!
This looks delicious! Can’t wait to try it! And the malted whipped cream! OMG, mind blown!
This recipe looks delicious; I look forward to trying it. And, I learned a new adjective: "Smurfy". Thank You! 🙂
This looks delicious, and thanks for showing how to make the buckle. Can't wait to make this! 🌸
Definitely trying this recipe! Thank you!!
OMG Yummy, definitely on my radar to make this summer with summer berries. Thanks :)
YOUR THE BEST THANK YOU
Once I ran out of toothpicks I improvised by using spaghetti sticks and now I use that method to check for fineness. Also, was wondering if this creation would freeze and thaw well. It would be nice to make several while berries are plentiful and have this yummy delight even after berry season is long gone. Thanks for great treat!
I have some frozen fruit left over from last years "neighborhood generosity" and was wondering what to do with it. I think a buckle is my answer! Thanks!
Looks so good and not to difficult

Found it. Thanks. Made the recipe today and it is fantastic. Used raspberries and blackberries.
I call it a Big Belly Berry Buckle! I’ll pass on this one. On second thought, nah; I’ll still pass but as always Bridgett and Julia make everything look appealing and tasty!
Not Fair---Where's my piece?
Can we eat this warm?

You can eat it however you want. You can eat it in the rain. You can eat it on a train. You can eat it in a tree. You can eat it however you see. In a house or in a box, with a mouse or with a Fox. You can eat it here or there. You can eat it anywhere!
Sugar OVERLOAD 😳 I wonder why we have a diabetes epidemic
Why cut the berries in half horizontally, when cutting in the vertical (like strawberries) would be more viable - than having chunky bunky buckle ?
I'm keto, can I use ground elk instead of flour?

You can use it in the whipped cream in place of sugar.

In my experience, elk and blackberry is just too sweet.
This recipe is slightly more complicated than the one a friend shared with me 20+ years ago. Hers was from her grandmother and incorporates all the fruit into the batter rather than dividing. I see no reason for the extra step.

It's not necessary, but it's probably very nice to have a fruity layer next to the crumb. Makes it juicer.
