Learn how to create a smart object on a latte mug mockup, with room for glitter below.
I mentioned my Academy Stock Library in the video, but have since shut those down. However, the file without glitter is available in my creative market shop now, and the glitter one (slightly modified from what you see here) is also coming to the shop soon for purchase :-)

    Thank you so much! I have been trying to find a video like this forever! I am however, using an updated version of PS, and when I warp, I don't get the extra lines in the middle. I was still successful, although a little trial and error, and can't remember what I did!

    For a 20&30 oz coffee tumbler do we just google it and upload it to PS? Will it be that size or will we need to size it?

  • @SarahDesign

    @SarahDesign

    6 жыл бұрын

    You'll want to take your own picture or get one from the manufacturer that you are allowed to use in your business listings. If you grab from google you're at risk of someone coming after you if it's their copyrighted image - yuck! Then once its in Photoshop you can size it however you want. This is just for mocking up so estimates are totally fine. I hope that answers your Q?

    wanda mintz unfortunately no, I haven’t personally made a wrap, like, ever! LOL, so I didn’t create this for that sort of usage...I think it would fail you! It’s just for mockups to show your designs in pretty picture form :-)

    Did this for myself if it benefits anyone watching. 1. **Create a New Layer**: Click on the "create a new layer" button (represented by a square with a folded back corner) at the bottom of the layers palette. Alternatively, you can also go to the menu in the upper right of the layers palette (the "hamburger" menu), where you can create a new layer. 2. **Draw a Rectangle on the Layer**: Draw a rectangle closely fitting the edges of the main part of the latte mug on the new layer. 3. **Fill the Rectangle with White**: Go to the top menu, click on 'Edit', then click on 'Fill'. In the dialog box, click the dropdown menu, choose 'White' and hit 'OK'. 4. **Deselect the Rectangle**: Go to the 'Select' menu and choose 'Deselect'. The shortcut for this is 'Command D' on a Mac or 'Ctrl D' on a PC. 5. **Convert to Smart Object**: Right-click on the layer and choose 'Convert to Smart Object'. After this, you can adjust the opacity as needed without affecting the original image. 6. **Change the Fill Color**: Double-click on the layer to open a new tab, which is a .PSB tab. Fill it with a different color. Go to 'Edit', 'Fill', and choose 'Foreground Color' to use the color currently selected in your foreground color square in the tools palette. Hit 'OK'. 7. **Save Changes**: After making any changes to your .PSB, always hit 'Save'. Once you hit save, the asterisk that initially appears in the .PSB tab will disappear, indicating that you've saved your changes. 8. **Adjust the Shape**: Turn down the opacity so you can see the shape of the mug underneath. Go to 'Edit', 'Transform', 'Warp'. The warp box appears like a grid with handles in the corners and dot handles in other spots on the sides. Start dragging the shapes in until they line up with the shape of the mug. Adjust the shape as per the curves and edges of the mug. 9. **Add Text or Design**: After getting the desired shape, bring the opacity back to 100%. Go back to the .PSB tab and change the fill color back to white. Then, add the text or design you want to place on the mug. After adding the design, hit 'Save' and go back to the main layer. 10. **Adjust Design Size and Placement**: If needed, adjust the size and placement of the design on the mug by going to 'Edit', 'Transform', 'Scale'. Drag out from the corners while holding 'Shift' (for proportional scaling) or 'Shift + Option' (to scale from the center) on a Mac. 11. **Test Design**: Turn off the white layer in the .PSB tab, hit 'Save', and go back to the main file to see how your design looks. If you need to make adjustments, you can transform the design again until it looks just right. 12. **Finalize**: Once you're satisfied with your design, save your changes. You can now easily add new wording or design to the smart object in the future by just editing the smart object, hitting 'Save', and seeing the changes reflected on your file.

  • @SarahDesign

    @SarahDesign

    5 жыл бұрын

    The short story of how to add glitter is: find/create a big image of glitter, place it on top of your mug layers, then create a mask in the shape of your mug, on that glitter layer. Now your glitter is shaped like a mug! You can go in and paint on some shadows and dimensions at this point. I teach all the steps to do this inside my Mockups for Makers course if you want all the deets! mockupsformakers.com/
