When do you add the flour? As soon as you spray the varnish or does the varnish have to dry first? Does the flour last and stay pretty? Or does it eventually blow off?

Love watching the care you take in shaping this cake. My question is, you use pastel crayon. Would that be our equivalent to pastel chalk, here in the US?

  • @ArtBakery

Thanks a lot! We are really glad to hear you enjoy our content! I am pretty sure that pastel chalk is the US version of Pastel Crayon. ✌️

@@ArtBakery thanks so much for that reply. I was not sure, since in the US, our Crayons are wax. Beautiful work and execution

Since we’re not US based and not 100% sure it’s probably best to double check at your hobby/DIY store. I guess that would be the best choice for you.

Did you "flour" the cake after it was completely dry? I wanted to make one of these for a theater prop and wondered if I put the flour on as soon as I sprayed the varnish, would it act as a glue to hold the flour to the cake? Or maybe I would be better off using "icing" out of Modge Podge and paint instead of dusting it with flour... In any event the cake looks great and I can't wait to try my hand at one!!! Thanks. :)

@@jennifermata6144 No answer, but I would not use flour. I would use unscented baby powder instead or something else that is a non-food. And I would personally "dust" it when the varnish is still a bit tacky to hold the "flour". I have not tried to make it yet, but it's on my radar to try.
