    This has been my goal to create my own series. I have my characters, the venues, the backstories and the designs. The only thing keeping me down...my job. It's so hectic that i can't even get a full comic page done without falling asleep

    Set a low daily quota. “Write 100 words a day for 90 days” or “sketch 1 crappy page for 90 days in a row.” The compounding of daily effort produces finished products. When you think of the giant project it gets overwhelming and excuses will creep in to keep you from climbing the mountain. Just take one small step daily and watch things fall into place

    I was wondering what size you draw the pages at, because I’m currently working on my graphic novel and I intend it to be 6 by 9 inches but I’ve heard kdp has checkers who fret over margins constantly, so I’m wondering if I should draw the pages at a large size and then fit it in the given margins on affinity publisher, but how do you do it?

    Hey the one thing I struggling with is how big my aspect ratio should be for my comic. I don’t want it to be blurry I want it to be smooth like yours. But I can’t never seem to find the right one. Does anyone know how to help with this problem?

    @@RyRyArtnot exactly sure what you mean by that. I will try to get it published and out there but for aspect ratio I have it as 8 x 11 right now. But it feels so blurry still. Just wanted to know more about the aspect ration and how it would print. Also am I doing it right and what should the ratio accually be?

  • @RyRyArt

    @RyRyArt

    Not enough :). I sell on Amazon through Amazon kdp and Shopify on my site. Big mistake I made was making the book too big. I should have cut it in half. Big books work for all text books or traditional publishing. Tough to print and ship for independent publishers when it’s a 400 page graphic novel

    Another question’s really been bothering me, but when you made your graphic novel did you register a copyright with the us copyright office? Because I’m currently working on my own and I’ve heard it’s a grueling process to register a copyright

  • @RyRyArt

    @RyRyArt

    Nope. I believe you have a copyright when you publish. Especially if you put it on Amazon you have proof and publication date

    This question has been bugging me for a while, but when you’re self publishing on KDP, do you need to draw in CMYK?

  • @RyRyArt

    @RyRyArt

    3 ай бұрын

    I am terrible with remembering to convert into CMYK so I draw in procreate in RGB, set up the images in indesign in RGB, and export out a PDF that is RGB and upload it to KDP. I really should convert to CMYK but I find that to be draining so I sort of draw and hope it will print ok. 95% of the time it does

    Why did you go for one 400 plus book instead of multiple issues? I'm asking because I wrote one issue of a graphic novel and it was under 50 pages. Already started issue two. Is there an advantage to one book as opposed to issues? Thanks great vid!

    @@RyRyArt is there such a thing as a page number rule? For instance, 120 page screen play. If I wanted to make a "trade paper" length book, or soft-bound GN for instance. 50 pages seems about right, but is there a "standard"? Thx
