For those asking the scientific reason, DC motors are two way systems, apply energy and the motor spins, forcefully spin the motor and it generates energy, I think that some people thought the wires he cut at the beggining have something to do with it, but they are only used to create the inner groove for his homemade pulley.

@@hacktivitynow8457 The water evaporates due to being heated by the Sun. The evaporation causes rain which falls onto mountains and in turn creates a flow of water due to the gravitation of the Earth. Once the water has reached the bottom of the mountain or hill it is evaporated once more and so the system continues. It literally annoys me that you lack such insight but that in itself is my own ignorance. Please educate yourself before declaring yourself right and another wrong.

Any permanent magnet DC motor will act as a generator when turned...... Likewise the way you tested old car generators was to connect them to power. If they "motored" or turned, they were OK. If not, then there was a problem in the windings or brushes.

You don't need the wire as long as it's a wheel that can move the rubberband and the little dc motor that he or she uses and connect a little tiny led (they're really cheap on Amazon) it'll work. The spinning of the little motor is all that causes electricity. I reccomend Jeremy field for thorough explanations. Or electricboom he's got funny but good explanations.

Dynamo, rubber band, 2 copper wires, plastic glue, wood, cardboard. To be simple, just buy a dynamo, connect 2 copper wires to it to a bulb, then rotate the wheel with a rubber band attached to a cardboard hand cranked flywheel. Cheers

This was great, thanks, I been tryin to find out about "simple ways to generate electricity" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Diyadison Penhloe Blaster - (do a google search ) ? It is a good exclusive guide for generating your own electricity without the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my partner got amazing results with it.
