I used Schmetz Microtex machine needle 70/10 it worked a lot better then the leather needle I had tried. I was able to sew 4 thicknesses with the Microtex needle. I also tried a 75/11 stretch needle I had and that worked just as well through all 4 thicknesses. In the end I decide to sew with the Microtex needle. The leather needle shank was to thick for piercing through the tight woven fiber of the faux leather and this made my machine sound loud like it was having a hard time sewing through the layers. I sewed this using my Brother CS6000i sewing machine. I made a different wallet then this one.

Use double sided tape to hold everything together , also tissue paper should go in the bottom helps more .!

Also make sure you use the longest stitch that you can , and fix your thread tension which is a major role

@@sarahquiroz9004 in a regular home machine I tend to do number 5 on tension for top and the bottom has to be loose but I have a hand crank leather machine and thats different

You could also use a sewing foot designed for leather/faux leather and you won’t have to use the tissue paper

I used a denim needle, you could also just use one labeled for heavy materials 🙂

Would adding a little tag on the side for a keyring add to much bulk when sewing?

Faux leather has a tendency to stick in a sewing machine while being sewn. The tissue paper helps to feed the faux leather through the machine without sticking nearly as much. Basically, it makes it a lot easier to sew and makes your seams look more professional.

What are the measurements?

Any sewing machine should work for this pattern. However, I personally use a Brother CS6000i 🙂

Good question! I was able to fit at least 5 cards in my wallet and a couple of cash bills. it was pretty full at that point.
