definitely like the idea of a wood top cause you can even design it or paint it differently ❤😀🙂
I like that you explain things as you go. I was going to do the 5 gallon but after watching your video I changed to the one you showed. Thanks.

You're very welcome, yes a wider width base will be much more stable 🙌👍
Great job Jonny. Thanks

Thanks Dave! 🙏👍
Cool. I like how you turned a problem into a feature (the bottom of the trash can skirting the side of the concrete base). Nice improvisation

Sounds like a good idea, just be sure to make it heavy enough to hold up the umbrella 👍

You're welcome, happy to share 🙌👍
I really like your novation here. My only concern, does the amount of time spent and materials purchased really justify making the stand? Buying a nice cast iron umbrella stand for $45 - $65 is a better approach IMHO. However, if you have the concrete already and some time to spare, your idea is perfect. Nice video.

Thanks you're right sometimes it's better just to buy. I all the stuff on hand already and needed a heavy base and couldn't find anything comparable 👍
where is the link to the concrete used?

@@JonnyDIY thats the one i got still isnt looking like yours. mine has a lot of gravel. just did it today will see how it goes. how long you think to be ready?
@JonnyDIY

@@dnm6445 it does have quite a bit of gravel in it. I'd probably wait to move it around for a week. Depending how warm it is and how wet the mix was. It'll set up within a day but concrete takes usually a month to reach full strength

Looks like a plastic garbage can is the way to go, for a mold.

Yeah that's probably the best idea. Once you've got a nice mold you could make a couple or even more for friends and family
Too much work for a 39 dollar base

Do people even sell concrete bases anymore? All I ever see is the lightweight ones now
Buy a base. Much cheaper. You cannot lift once its dried.

I need heavy base because area I live in is windy and heavy base will work as stand alone without umbrella having to go through table hole👍 this only cost me a bag of concrete
