How to MAKE a DIY 3D BACKGROUND for your AQUARIUM - Part 1

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

I have made many custom DIY 3D backgrounds for aquariums. I have never documented the process on my channel, so I decided to make a step-by-step series on how to make your own 3D background for your aquarium.

    Leaving creepy lurker mode to say this is gonna be cool! I'm prepping for my next fantasy planted tank which will include a custom background, seeing you use the great stuff foam gives me some good ideas! Maybe I should try it. I was going to cut up sheet insulation and silicone it in layers to build up my volume but that seems like it might be a lot more work. Hmm. So after the spray foam cures, can you do more layers of spray foam? Does it adhere to itself after it cures?

  • @TazawaTanks

    @TazawaTanks

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes! I think you’d come up with some very creative ideas! As far as layering, I haven’t tried it. I think it may work if you carve off the top, shiny layer once it cures, and try adding the foam to the exposed surface which would be more porous. Otherwise, just spray out a larger volume and carve it back to the desired depth.

    Hi, I have a question, I want to do a background to my already stablished aquarium , my question is how do I safely install it so that my fish are not harmed, I keep hearing the ph of the water will jack up, is it safe to install it after the project is complete? Or do I remove the fish and install the 3D background? And if so, for how long should I keep the fish out of the aquarium ?

  • @TazawaTanks

    @TazawaTanks

    4 жыл бұрын

    It is hard to install in an existing aquarium. If you want to add to an existing aquarium, you would probably need to buy the ones that are already made.

  • @TazawaTanks

    @TazawaTanks

    Ай бұрын

    You can, but you would want to make sure that you have an air stone or something behind it to help circulate water. Otherwise the main part of the tank may not heat up enough.
