For 80s Depeche Mode: 1. Sample drums that sound powerful 2. Add some lyrics about BDSM mixed with social commentary 3. Sample A LOT of random sounds, especially things hitting on metal 4. Play synths in a way no one will ever guess which ones you used

Don't forget one other thing. Add in those honky-tonk guitars Martin Gore is known for, and for the chorus make those guitars sound bittersweet and angelic. BOOM! 😁

Actually, my favorite Depeche Mode song is off the album Unknown Pleasures, it's called "Just like Heaven", I love Morrissey's voice in that song, he's such a genius. 🥰

Yep! I would've loved to be alive in the 60's when all those grunge bands were around.

Sound was really inspired by this underground band, U2, that came out of San Francisco’s metal scene of the late 60’s.

really good but not as good as “hong kong garden” from the album “mask”

As a person who grew up in the eighties and built my entire persona around this music, you have offended me in at least seven ways with this comment. I am now sulking in your direction.

I prefer their next album closer, because their song “a forest” is on there. It’s a cool song because Peter hook played drums on it.
One thing was missing here: "You influence the whole pop, rock, EDM and metal music industry"

This is drums from Some Great Reward, Vocals from Violator, and guitar from Songs of Faith and Devotion. Great work.

I was going to say, unlike some of his genericized songs I felt like this one could not have actually existed since the band's style changes significantly every 5-7 years, haha. The drums were spot-on though

...and the synth from A Broken Frame(or downtempo Speak&Spell) :) However this demo brings Camouflage on my mind, rather than dM.

Glad someone mentioned A Broken Frame as that's what came to mind for me.
*This* is my favorite Depeche Mode song
I'm so glad that they still are making valuable and relevant music without being affected by the passing of time. I mean, they didn't keep attached to their glorious past. Their longevity is the result of constant resilience without losing the essence. They are remarkable artists, for sure. Nice video tutorial, bro. I gonna try it. Cheers!

The band was much better when Alan Wilder was still part of the band. He was and still is the backbone of DM imo.

loving this series, you’re spot on!
This sounds like it could be from the "Some Great Reward" until "Violator" era. Their albums after that sound a lot more different, at least to me. They got heavier and more blues-influenced over time. My favourite DM song is probably "Black Celebration". Because it has the most Gothic vibe of all of their songs! :D
@jebby16

They sound different because Alan Wilder left the band. I'm a big fan of DM and have high respect for all the members but to me...Wilder is DM. I think "To have and to hold" is their most Goth song...imho
I absolutely adore the chorus. Great video!
and then you only need to write timeless lyrics and melodies. anyone can do it 😂
I wish this wasn’t so damn good. I need more of it.
I just discovered your channel and I laughed so much. Greetings from France !
This and the Smiths one were hilarious, Do Siouxsie and the Banshees next.
I'm in love with these uploads you make!! 🎶🎶🎶
Any song off of the greatest Depeche Mode album of all time, Violator.

you could have left the words “Depeche Mode” out of your comment and it would still be accurate
My favorite Depeche Mode song is “Everything counts” followed by “Never Let me down”
That chorus synth riff is perfect in every way.
This series of how to make a song in 1 minute is great. Continue with all major 80s bands - maybe a song from the sound for your next video ?
That was hillarious well done!
My favorite album of Depeche Mode is Songs of Faith and Devotion. Dave Gahan when they recording this album was in the deep, dark moment of his life, so this album sounds fuckin' great. Sadness, desperation, darkness. Edit: I Feel You is my favorite song too!
Everything Counts
Everything counts❤️ ...the 101 live version is so amazing...i bought myself the same melodica for 10€ from a guy in my city to get the correct sound for the melodica solo😂👍
How do you know that I want to write a The Cure album? Spooky!
I love this. Too much. Please make more of this song!
A Question Of Time is my favorite Depeche Mode song. A cliche, but the Alan Wilder years are what I listen to. I'm still surprised he turned down joining The Cure.
Seriously, that chorus was more catchy than anything on the new Depeche Mode album.

Id like to hear a whole song, this is good.
Well, that took me by surprise. Didn't see you going there. And not only did it work, it sounded just like New Order 😀 Now I'm starting to wonder what if Vince Clarke wrote Ceremony...
This song is so great it deserves to have a full version! :-)
You just never miss

Also, my favourite is Behind The Wheel
This is good enough to be a great 3 minute pop song in its own right.
This is so perfect .. hilarious and absolutely spot on.
Nice song! Cool vid
Love the "Sopranos" look, keep at it bro, great channel.
I love your content!
I listen to depeche mode when I'm depressed and if you could trick my depression then you have my seal of approval ... bravo 👏🏾
"Yes I know I dress like a Sopranos character", hahaha... love someone that's got a good self-deprecating sense of humour
I just can't get enough
Their first hit " I just can't get enough" rocks.
brilliant!
Nice job with this!
Love your work, and I love me some depress mode
"Walking in my shoes". The video of the song is one of the greatest of the 90s. Stunning!
This is a stone-cold, FDA approved, banger
this charming man is my favourite depeche mode song
You, sir, are a genius!
Okay, I want a full single of this one! My favorite Depeche Mode song is "Mercy in You" from Songs of Faith and Devotion
you nailed it! :-)
Damn, this is good!
I just found your "how to" vids today and they're all spot on... except for this one. I bet if you tried doing this one again with a Black Celebration/Music for the Masses vibe, and with a more Dave vocal than a Morrissey vocal, it would be awesome. Great job though. 10 out of 11 ain't bad! 🤘
Wow you're good! Excellent thx
Mine's tied between "Enjoy the Silence", "World In My Eyes", "Strangelove- 2006 remaster", and "Never Let Me Down Again". They have so many masterpieces 👏🔥

@@DesmondDoom Not right now my friend, California is going through a mini-ice age right now, so my hands have been to cold to keep practicing. Normally, I love Winter up here, but I hate ice and because I inevitably fall from slipping on it. Such was the case last week during a blizzard and I landed on my ass ― Turning my spine into an 'accordion'. I already had a spinal injury where I cracked two vertebra and ruptured three disks, so it's been going slowly for right now. I wanted to learn how to play the piano so badly as a kid, but my mother said, "Only wealthy families play piano ....." However, the piano teacher lived next door, so that became a screwed-up plan, otherwise I would have played the synthesizer. Thank you Mother .....!!!! It's Summer there in Auzzie-land, isn't it .....???
That bass sounds great. What effects did you use?
THIS HAAAS TO HAVE A FULL SONG!!!!

"I just can't get enough"...of your videos.
Awesome, I love these how to make a _______song in ! minute videos!
I think what you just did here is now my favorate Depeche Mode song.
Great how to video! Sounds just like them! This one sounds like policy of truth with the guitar tone from personal Jesus.
I cant stop listening to it
Changes … now that I’m old, “dressed in black” more and more. Great video!
You've actually got a major jam going by the end of that track.
Favorite? "Somebody". "Mad World" is a close second.
LOL I dig it! That's a great tune
I am now addicted to this channel. Great entertainment. 😄😄
Loved it so much 😂💕🇧🇷
You are very talented
You forgot to change the key to major and then back to minor in the chorus. 😉
Lol this is great Fave so far is “Halo”, love the dark tones Have a done The Cure yet? That would be fantastic!

My favourite Depeche Mode song is 'Enjoy the Silence' mostly because my parents had it on fairly often. it is a vibe in it's own merit as well though lol
Haha that’s great. Do Bauhaus next
you have a god given talent,so here we go Bee Gees.
1,000 of these views are me coming back to listen to this masterpiece several times a day.
Keeps me waiting for official release.
fav: icemachine 😍
Fave. Mercy In You.
I heard strangelove at my 80s clubs and it's been my favorite song ever since
This guy is criminally undersubbed
So many to choose from, so I'll go with a forgotten and fairly new gem - Ghost
Ok, after having watched the how -to-Bauhaus, listening to your surf goth tune and now nailing DM am subbed and wish you big success . Wholesome content! ETA: Strangelove :)
Absolute banger
Sounds more like if The Smiths crashed a car in to a deputy
Do you happen to know what effects they use on their vocals? Is it just delay or reverb or something else?
Im not a fan of Depeche mode, but your chorus totally convinced me, I love it !!!

“What’s your name”. Of course my favourite one.
I love your guitar. What model Jazzmaster is it (or is it something else)? Didn't see the Fender logo on the headstock.

Squier J Mascis jazzmaster painted Sherwood green! Feels better than a Fender
I am a big DM Fan - and honestly to say, you've got it!😂
we simply MUST have a "The Cure" version
