This same process with a few additional steps could be used to make an awesome looking on top of the counter sink bowl you should do this as a video and maybe add some color to the concrete
I made this a year ago after watching your video... I could not believe how fun & easy it was to make but also how smooth it came out. I chose to use mine as a succulent planter! So beautiful! Thank you so much 😊
This is by far the nicest, cleanness, prettiest, classiest quickest DIY fire bowl. Th black stones caught my eyes. You did an amazing job and made it look so simple. Your description was right on. Thank you so much.
Killer work man. Love the final result! Incredibly smooth. Also, the palm sander tip is pretty clever.

Nice job Glen! If I may offer one suggestion; if you use the wire mesh over top of the flame, make sure you are not using galvanized material. The galvanizing coating breaks down and makes toxic gasses when it is heated and is dangerous inside or outside. Another way is to cut out the area around the fuel can so the mesh does not heat up. Thanks for a great project!
I used QUIKRETE from Home Depot. The only thing I did differently was like he said, mixed the concrete prior to pouring it in the bowl therefore alleviating the scratches. I bought a bag of large black Mexican pebbles from the garden center because I wanted less shine from the stones. It was so simple to make. Always complimented by neighbors friends and family. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Bud. Thank you. :) Means a lot.
It's so smooth on the outside, i love it!
Beautiful job and a great weekend project. I love it. The "scratches" add a marbled look the glassy concrete finish.

Glenn, that bowl is gorgeous! I was looking for a simple way to make a concrete/stone fire pit for my back yard/porch and this video got me thinking of other ideas and it was so simply done! I'm new to this channel but I can't wait to see more! Great stuff! Thank you!
hi DIY CREATORS ! I just made this bowl !!! It was not with concrete for construction because I accidentally bought concrete GLUE for tiles and thats white stuf but I am so happy with my result !I did not make it for a fire pit but I always wanted to have like a nice and sweet round little waterfountain indoor at the end of my sofa which had like this open spot despite having attached plywood on each of the sides making small drinktables and also creating a decoration shelf at the edge with a LED on it to get a nice effect with some planters ( bought planters before I met ur channel here ) so I finished it off with just some transparant woodspray and it is as if I have bought it ! I work in the reptile and amphibiansector in the weekends and showed my boss and he wants to have one lol !!!!!(No its not the diy huge frog on top of it but he really liked the concrete bowl here so I directed him to your channel and here by I had to say from him " wow this guy is just amazing , now he is using his skills and if he is clever he d make a business out of this , tell him to stop revealing how to make all of that and to start a business " well I just quoted my boss here and always do what the boss says right ? anyways he didnt find he has the time to make this himself so I just got extra days off ! haha ! thaaaank youuuuuu :D ps can I send u some pics and would u please say what i have to improve ???? perhaps a suggestion on paints or anything at all ???
Love it! Thanks again, your projects are always cool and most importantly “doable”.
Sent here by the +Crafted Magazine roundup video. Great work--Subscribed!

Great video --- thank you so much! I did a version of this with a large round deep glass bowl, lots of pebbles as insulation, and a small stainless steel container for bio fuel --- all since I live in a Manhattan apartment and want this for indoors.
That's beautiful and looks so easy and inexpensive to make! Thanks for the tutorial!
This is crazy beautiful! I love it so much!

I have to say your instructions are some of the best that I've come across. I found one other persons that I like, also (she used a terra cotta pot). Your cement turned out the best....Very smooth. I think I'm going to make one for my patio.... Thank you.

Just paint the inside of the bird bath with clear or blue/aqua tinted epoxy resin. Water tight and should make the water inside look like a high-end swimming pool.

Excellent instructions and lovely outcome! Thanks for sharing brother - I love it!
Where did you get your black bowls and what sizes were they? I loved this idea! Thanks for sharing!
Just a word of warning. Don't ever have fire going right on concrete itself. It will explode due to air bubbles being heated. I found out the hard way.
@ionescualexandru5050
7 жыл бұрын
Actually it's not the air but the water in the micropores that causes the concrete to explode and there are two way to overcome this problem. 1 is to use refractory concrete and obey the instructions by the letter (the solution I would recommend). 2 heat the concrete slowly and in small increments over a long period of time in order allow all the water in the micropores to evaporate and the concrete to dry beyond it's normal state (but you might need to do this before every time you want to fire your fire bowl as concrete will just absorb moisture from the air so just use refractory concrete). Even thow I don't think this bowl would heat up enough to make the concrete explode.
@Dravira
7 жыл бұрын
shopsmart57 you can cure it slowly in an oven at low temp then use concrete sealer. Other option is mix your own ceramic mix and use that or just use a premade ceramic bowl and build it from that. Should be fine though either way as long as the fire is small.

super creative and a very smooth finish.
Great. I think I'll build one. Nice quality straightforward video. Excellent.
Love your bowl. I especially loved the SMOOTH effects due to the smoothness of the plastic bowls you used. Also didn't think about the metal mesh to keep heat rocks above all. Your demo/video here is just the best all around tips & ideas to be successful. I didn't think about hammering around the outside with rubber mallet to break up any bubbles. I am already thinking how to use the canisters so I can reseal with iids & not use pourable fuels so I can travel with one camping. (I have a commercial metal bowl that's great for size & weight to travel but it has no way to cover the fuel holder that you pour in not the canisters. Your design helps me figure out how to approach that in style. You could replace the color of rocks if for any reason it's needed or wanted too. Thank you for doing a fantastic video share.
