For anyone who's curious, the hand stitch used on the liner is called a blanket stitch. You can find tutorials on how to blanket stitch on KZread.

Hi! I've been watching your videos and commenting for a few months now, and I just got my first chinchilla yesterday! His name is Dude, and he's a wonderful shy little guy! This video helped so much, as I'm still working on making cage liners for Dude's new cage.

I wanted to just say thank you for providing all the information that you know about Chinchillas! I got my babies a couple weeks ago and watched a lot of your videos for a quick guide on “how to” since I’ve never had chins before. Thank you so much!!

Thanks for making this one! Really great timing, too! Joann's just had a sale on fleece, so I got 2 yards of a brown a 1-yard remnant of grey for super cheap. I will be making liners as soon as I get the cage. :D

TheChinchilla Journal When Your Chinchilla reaches about 6 months it’s a good idea to upgrade to a cage the size of mine. About 5 feet tall and 2 feet wide or across😊💕
Hi, do you have the measurements for the hole at the top, I do not have this cage but I make the liners for it using their measurements!

I already have fleece liners in my chinnie's cage and since I dont sew the liners would it be 1/2 a yard of fleece as the bigger pans?

Do you think the Chin would be comfortable with the 2 layers but no pan? My cage didn’t come with a pan for any other the layers
I’ve had a cage and she has been chewing the the plastic cage bottom so this is very helpful thank you
You hand stitch these? Nice work!
Sorry if I’m asking to many questions but what are the dimensions fir the bottom and top pan, my dad is going to pick up the same cage as yours from a 2h away place that he bought from Kijiji and I want to make liners before he go and gets it this Friday
Hey just wondering I’m getting a chinchilla soon and I want a fleece liner can you buy them from any shops if so can you suggest me some places thanks xx
Where do you get your fleece? Do you just cut it out of a blanket or do you get squares someplace?
How do you cover the ladders with fleece?
Do they not chew the fabric? My chinchilla chews everything he can get in his reach so I m just curious if they chew it
Thank you for the diy now i know

Before I make mine. Would there be any reason I shouldn't sew the towel to the fleece and the fleece together and set it inside the tray or does is really need to be a pocket the tray slides into?

please tell me where are they supposed to pee is the idea that they pee on the liner so that all you have to do is vac up the poops and wash the fleece liner as they get soiled?

Is it better to use fleece than bedding? If so why?
@TheChinchillaNotebook
5 жыл бұрын
bbangtanlyfe It depends on how you like to do things. Some people find traditional bedding easier and better to use while I definitely will never stop using fleece. In my opinion, fleece is cheaper and cleaner and easier to use than normal bedding but if you would like to know extra details, I have an older video called All About Chinchilla Beddings you could get more information from😊

U can use mats
How do you make them for your ledges?
@TheChinchillaNotebook
5 жыл бұрын
It's very simple. All you do is buy a plank of chinchilla safe wood and cut it into whatever sizes you want. Then you drill in two holes slightly smaller than your screws and push those in so that they fit snugly. Then add a washer to the screws, attach the ledge to the cage, and use a wingnut to tighten it. :)
how do u install the wood in the cage? xx
@TheChinchillaNotebook
5 жыл бұрын
Isabella Serratos The ledges have little screws sticking out and you use a wingnut or bolt to attach it😌

How often does the fleece and liner get changed?
@savannahf.7776
4 жыл бұрын
well, i usually spot clean and i only deep clean on spring cleaning. spot clean is when i have a mini broom and dust ban and i do spot cleaning like every week. deep cleaning is where i take the whole cage, take it outside (without all the cage accessories of course) and wash it with a hose. with the fleece i just wash it while i wait for the cage to dry.

And I found the same exact cage as you
can I superglue the sides together with a hot glue gun instead of sewing them?

No, it will fall apart. If you don't want to sew then use hemming web. They are also used alot for cage liners.
I know this is really late, but I’m wondering where Merlin pees. Do you put something that he can pee on? Because I might get that cage for my chinchillas and they tend to pee in the corners a lot. 😬

Can you use fabric glue instead of sewing it?

Grace Cao I definitely recommend sewing because it stays together so much better and then you also have to consider that you need to wash them regularly and you don’t want the glue wearing off and the liner to fall apart😉
