I’m so glad you showed us how to glaze it as well!
This guy came back from the future to make the pipe that he smoked weed with right before he came back.

Amazing tutorial! I am a newbie in the ceramic arts world and I got a hunk of clay from my teacher when I stumbled upon this video and made my first pipe!! I am beyond stoked to see the results after firing and glazing. I think I will be venturing on into strictly pipe making. Keep on with the incredible work brother!!

You’re awesome Sir. Thank you for the great video.
Did you say this piece is bisque fired at 04? Where do you source low fire glazes in that quantity. I most buy 4oz or pint jars, but would love working out of a bucket like that. Great work, by the way!! TIA

hi thanks for your video i have a question why you make one hole in the side ?
@Ceramicsmokeware
5 жыл бұрын
Taraneh Mahdavi you’ll have to look more into pipes, it’s for clearing the smoke out of the pipe.
What type of clay do you use? What type of glaze do you use? Non-toxic/safe to smoke with?
@Ceramicsmokeware

Kylie Kutina yes non toxic lead free high fire glaze on stoneware clay
awesome work! where did you get the stands? or did you make them yourself?
@Ceramicsmokeware
7 жыл бұрын
Autumn Morgan yea I make them, but that's because I make so many pipes and couldn't afford to buy them. You can find them ready made at local ceramic supply stores or even online. They are called ceramic stilts if you weren't sure of there name.
Do you carve the other side of the bowl just for lightness of the pipe or is there another reason?
@Ceramicsmokeware
6 жыл бұрын
guatsamaralayuca I do it so it functions better when smoking, cleaning, and even holding the weight.
Hi! Nice tutorial, thanx Can you please explain what is the side hole for? and also when one smokes from this pipe doesn't the burned tobacco fall inside the pipe?
@Ceramicsmokeware
6 жыл бұрын
Екатерина Ушакова when you smoke the pipe fills up with smoke so the hole is to clear the hollow area of the pipe with air, and yes ash often times falls in unless you do not finish the bottom of your bowl but rather empty it.

Helps empty the pipe of ash, normally ment for majurana pipes lol and makes it a lil easier to smoke and not as harsh on the lungs. Weed is great btw
what are your thoughts on using low fire clay
@Ceramicsmokeware
7 жыл бұрын
Go for it! Fire to the appropriate temperatures and be sure to glaze inside really well. Trial and error may occur but I think you can do it. Let us know what happens.
You mentioned putting Epsom salt in the slip. What is the epsom salt for? I sometimes add vinegar to my slip.

gatblau1 you really don’t need it but it just helps the clay stick together ( it’s been awhile since I learned about how it adds an positive electron or something ). But really, unless your clay is not good, then you shouldn’t need anything to make it better.

Is there a specific kind for pipes i just started making them an i dont if its a different kind you use
@Ceramicsmokeware
6 жыл бұрын
John Sias it does not matter what kind of clay, just beware of what temperature the lay fires to and then make sure the glaze fires to the same temperature so the glaze will melt onto the clay the right way. So if you have a low fire clay of cone 06, then get an 06 glaze too. Don’t think to hard other than that and making sure there are no air bubbles by wedging well. You can do it. Tag me on IG, FB, Twitter, or send a photo when you get one made✌️🙏
is there anyway to cook clay with out a kiln?
@Ceramicsmokeware

ni*gga not really, at least not clay that is safe. But they do have micro kilns you can put in your microwave, maybe fit a pipe

Hüseyin Uzel where did you see this?? Long story short GLAZE IT INSIDE. You don’t have to if you really don’t want to 🤷♂️ you’ll be fine but you will want a new pipe in no time, unless it doesn’t matter that you can’t clean the resin built up on the clay. I am simply explaining the professional thing to do

I was thinking the same thing. But i realized this is like a video for beginners so it makes sense that everything is bigger. easier for the viewers to understand whats happening. And i believe clay shrinks ever so slightly when dry and fired
What kind of clay
@Ceramicsmokeware
3 жыл бұрын
Any kind of kiln fired clay. Highfire lowfire. Earthenware, stoneware, porcelain. All good choices. Lowfire earthenware is the most common if you call your local pottery studio or ceramic supplier.

schmerzen yea I don’t believe that would be safe at all so maybe look online for a local pottery studio and for no more then $20 you could go make your pipe, fire it, and glaze it. Worth looking into anyway
I made it by myself. I used woodprix woodworking plans for that.
Basic tutorial...26 mins long
